Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

well you’re way ahead of me. i will hopefully have everything in by the 20th, which is much, much later than i hoped for, but there’s nothing i can do about school forms. as for the application itself, i have 2 supplement essays and i started the last one late because i didnt notice it at first. i’m having my writing instructor read it over and then i’ll be good to go. good luck, guys.

Hey everyone,

I’m also applying to transfer to Cornell in the spring–to the hotel school actually. Can someone give me some advice as to how I should approach the interview? I’m having an off campus interview.

About the midterm report, I also find that a little confusing. My school does not issue official midterm marks so I’m lost as to when I should submit the report. I can get unofficial midterm marks from my instructors but at the earliest it’ll have to be sometime around late Sept-early Oct.

If anyone can help me out here, I’ll really appreciate it.

I just sent in my application through the common app website and will send out all other forms/transcript tomorrow.

Im planning to transfer to Cals for the Bio and Society Major

I am in Pathways to success because I go to an agreement institution.

I believe my essay’s are very good, but the elaboration on my EC’s could have been better. 2 questions:
What do you think my chances are, being that it is so close to the deadline?
and
How soon would I get a response back? (My application status saids downloaded) =]

Foshodub…I think you have an excellent chance of being accepted to Cals. Keep us posted
Good Luck!!

Brandnew… I just rec’d an e-mail from humec and they sent me the 2010 GT application.
The due date for everything is 10/1! My classes started 9/9 and my chem2 starts on 10/15! I’ll just do my best.
Ok…here is the site…

BTW Ziam, I think you have a very good chance at Cals.
I wish you the best!

thanks moll! i actually asked my advisor and he said the university is gonna contact me in november, so pretty much, i just wait till they send me stuff to fill out. haha lucky me?

so I just sent everything tonight via fedex priority overnight shipping… wish me luck

Thank you Mollena :]

all of my forms/letters should be sent out by next tuesday at the latest. my transcript needs to be updated but that should also be sent out latest at the end of next week, and this weekend the plan is to edit my essays one last time and then submit the application. good luck guys.

Brandnew, you are sooooo lucky!! You must be relieved not to have to send in the GT app, midterms, etc. Are you taking any courses this semester? :)

has anyone received an application ID yet? if so, when did you submit your common app/common app fee and supplement?

the website says 1-2 weeks. but there are always delays…soo yeah anyone?

I submitted my application more than 2 weeks ago, and haven’t gotten my applicant ID =/
My boyfriend didn’t get his Financial Aid package until he actually arrived on campus, and he told me Cornell has a huge volume of students to get through and not to worry about it…nevertheless, I’m going to call soon.

kay I just called in at CALS, and they said that Admissions has just started processing applications and hasn’t sent them out to the individual colleges yet…If you haven’t received your Applicant ID by the application deadline, then you should give them a call (according to the lady at admissions).
She did say that it was very good that I had sent in all of my paperwork (excluding midterm report) already, so yey :3.

OH NO! I just realized that both of my Essays are missing my DOB… is it fine considering I sent it through the common app? And to make matter’s worse I asked the professor’s who wrote my Letter of recommendations and they also forgot to add my DOB…What do you guys think…

Hey guys, I was looking for information on the Cornell Spring '10 Transfer process on google, found this thread, and read through the whole thread! Viola and ironicallyunsure - I feel like I know you guys
anyway its september 19th today and the deadline for transfer is October 1. Do you guys think its too late to consider applying? I have 1 prof rec that I can ask him to touch up, and another prof who can give me a rec with short notice. I live in NYC so i can definitely visit Cornell - but when should I?? I know the transfer day is in november, but that may be too late :frowning: Oh and I’m an international student who needs financial aid - do you guys know whether the chances for acceptance are lower if you need aid? And if I get in, will my need by 100% covered??
I love the idea of the ILR program, and it seems TAILOR MADE for me haha!! I’m an economics major, gov/pol minor, i’m the treasurer of the business management society at my uni, plus the co-chair of the student services committee (student gov’t), a member of the british-parliamentary style debate team (I even went to a debate tournament at cornell!!) and a writer for the Yearbook. My HS GPA is about 3.8~3.9 and I took challenging classes. BUT in college my GPA has dropped to 3.69 because of a C+ in Calc II - my teacher was terrible!!! Will that hurt my chances terribly?? otherwise I have straight A’s and a 1 or 2 A-'s.
SO I’ve been rambling lol…do you think I should apply in the Spring or just wait for the fall to bring up GPA? I’m confident I can write an awesome essay for “why cornell” because I love the ILR program. But I don’t know if i’ll have enough time to get materials in! Oh and I don’t know how they are about fin-aid for internationals either.
HELPP!!!

you definitely have time to get your stuff in, just make sure that your school’s offices know about the deadline and move fast with processing forms. ask for that rec right away and make sure you have a check-list of things to send out. do the actual application online and make sure your essays are really personal. good luck, you have a shot.

Completing the entire application packet in a little over a week is quite a feat but not impossible. If I were you, I’d try to send it all overnight (or whatever the fastest option is) to ensure that it gets there on time. As for the transfer day, the Cornell website says that the decisions will be announced in November (whether early or late November, I have no clue) so odds are that your decision may have already been made by that time.

hey stj013, one quick word of advice:

when you’re writing the Why Cornell (ILR) essay, focus more on YOURSELF rather than describing ILR. What i mean is, don’t just give a biography of the program because the committee obviously know all about the ILR program… what you want to do is talk about YOU, your goals and interest and how they FIT IN and RELATE to ILR… yeah, cause anyone can copy and paste some facts from the ILR website and put the words “I like ___ about ILR”… tell about yourself and why you fit well with ILR ya knowz?

sorry, im done, that’s just my two cents
