What post was that in reference to, Az?

wow it looks a lot of you were successful in getting great recommendations. But I was referring to the actual letter itself and how that was produced versus just the evaluation which measures your strengths and weaknesses to other students.

Also is the teacher the only one who is allowed to send the LORs in to cornell or was I able to gather them all and send them at once myself? This is important as my prof was asking if I was allowed to do that.

^–I only had one rec. and I sent it in myself. Or rather, I took my rec, official’s form, and transcript money and had them all sent out at once in my school’s office.

Haha I think Az is talking about his/her art school and agreeing with ziiam. Psh, art.
Jk, haha. I’m sure it was fun.

I had only one…or I mean it’s not even recommendation…it’s a teacher report or whatever they call it. CALS didn’t say we need rec letters from teachers…if I am not mistaken…

And guys thanks for the updates on the app status. I was a bit worried about the whole unchecks. I was like “my mail must be wandering somewhere in Texas or whatever” lol

Hahahaha, Texas. That’d be great (not really :P).

And yeah, it was teacher reports rather.

oh i didn’t know we were giving specifics. both of mine are from cornell alumni, both taught me psych courses. i aced both, and one was a junior-level class that i took as a freshman. i do research for one of my letter writers and she really likes me a lot and she knows me really well. the other i had for a summer course, but i figured it would be slightly more recent than the one that i had for spring, so i asked her to write me one, especially since she knew how interested i am in the school since she graduated from the major that i’m applying to. they both asked me what i wanted them to highlight and if there was anything in particular i wanted them to mention, so that was pretty cool of them. anyway, i’m going to go get my little additional info tidbits and envelope ready and send the rest of my stuff tomorrow.

ps tomorrow is my birthday
guess what i’m wishing for when i blow out my candles haha

3+ hours later, done with almost all of my paint squares, and it was not fun >_> when you get cadmium oil paints and turpentine-substitute all over your hands, it starts to burn lol.

As for my rec letter, it was from my Ecology professor from last year, second semester. Though she was teaching a RISD class, she was actually a research professor at Brown University. If I am not mistaken, that was the first class she’d ever taught, and I was the first student to ever ask her for a rec letter for something like this. So, I’m confident she put high marks for all those checkboxes. She and I have a very good relationship (she said any time I need a rec, for anything, to just ask her), and told me that in the rec letter, she had told Cornell that they would be fools to reject me, but that she had said it “a little bit more diplomatically than that.” She also said she would fill it with as many glowing compliments as possible. So I’m pretty satisfied lol.

also happy birthday ironicallyunsure =)!

Happy bday, Ironic.

Incidentally, it irritates me when people confuse the concepts of coincidences and irony. I’m not sure why I’m telling this to you people, but I thought you should know.

Anyway, how are we supposed to find out our decisions (whenever they should come)? Does Cornell just implement the traditional big acceptance package vs. small rejection letter routine or have they stepped into the 21st century like Yale and send e-mails?

I’d much prefer the latter. It would be sent directly to my blackberry.

thanks
finally 19, and all of my friends are turning 20 haha

the fall kids who applied for financial aid usually got an e-mail from the FA office before they got their big acceptance packages in the mail. my rejection was still a sad, little envelope.

I’m sure you’ll be getting the big package this time.

You probably missed the post when I asked this the first time, so I’ll just ask again: were we supposed to schedule the interview with Ian prior to the application deadline?

okay this is probably the dumbest question ever
but are we supposed to hand it in before oct first starts
or after
so i mean is the deadline
between sept 30 to oct 1st
or oct 1st to oct 2nd

thanks thanksss

im obviously not going to get in -_-

Cornell reps. are the only ones with that answer.

All we know is that the deadline is October 1st. That could have meant 11:59pm on September 29th or 6 pm on October 1st or any other conceivable variation.

lol awesomesauce
ahaha thank you

guess what today is my bday too !!! turning 18 ! lol finally

god you guys make me feel old lol

Dearcloud, I just called and we have until midnight to send in the application. I would recommend not to send it at the last possible minute just in case the computer freezes or something along those lines.

Happy B-day, Ironic and Ziiamkys! :)

Hope you have a kickass birthday today! Wouldnt it be awesome that Cornell just send u guys an email: Happy Birthday,
We wold like to offer your acceptance as a gift for today. We hope that you accept.

Hahaha. Happy birthday guys! Hope that awesome wish I know you both made comes true :D

And that’s good that the deadline is this midnight. Pretty sure my essay was finished last night at 12:01am…just did some editing and got distracted before actually submitting it. Now all I have left is counselor’s form that gets mailed today, + midterms.

@east89: They send both. First I got a vague e-mail from Cathy, then I called and the desk clerk laughed that I didn’t understand it, and said I was accepted. Then I got an official e-mail, a week later my big envelope with dining/housing/orientation info came.

Speaking of which, according to a kid on the Student Transfer Committee, our orientation is supposed to be way better than the kids in the fall. They really break it down for us and help us get settled in, since the spring transfer process can be somewhat awkward.

Glad to know I’m not the only one! I just want to send them all and be done!! and just wait some agonizing months for all of our acceptances letter. Otherwise why would Cornell want to separate such a dynamic group :)

Happy Birthday Emine (IRon)…to 1 of the most supportive people on this site!! Hope u have a wonderful day! ![]()
Don’t stress abt ur age… I’ll won’t b 19 until next july…

**Another Happy Birthday to Ziiam!! I hope you have a great day too! I’m finally older than someone!! :)

…I feel old, I’m 19 and turning 20 in April…
But happy birthday to ziiamkyz!

How important do you think the midterm reports are? The fact is that I’m taking three mandatory art classes, and then 2 academic classes: Chemistry100 (don’t judge me T_T I can’t take upper level because of studio hours!), and Intro to Psych. It’s probably a good idea to aim for A’s in all, but worst case scenario I got a B in one of my art classes, how bad would that be? I mean, I’m applying for animal science, so…
