haha lol well you guys are talking assuming my recs and essays are superb… i could say yes but who knows im good enough. def. im not a Shakespeare or anything like that. i wanna go but to me it was really difficult to differentiate communication dep. at Cornell with others. i just showed my passion and my past experiences that relate to it… i really wanna go. i dont wanna get stuck in this college…sigh… something that i can be proud of is that i got the highest score on the standardized test at my high school (nice competitive private high school) thou my GPA is sucking…and this is high school and im applying as a junior…ill see how it turns out

Az, I’ve reviewed your essays.

Anyone else want to join the yahoo group to get their essays reviewed? (Now that I think about it, there’s really not many of us in this thread)

yes add me !!!

^^^what’s your e-mail address?

If you don’t feel comfortable with posting it out here, just pm it to me.

just pm it to u

Ryan_bres@hotmail.com is mine. I can review a few essays when I get some free time. I can’t really say I’ll be much help, considering despite the fact that I got in, I still don’t entirely know what each school is looking for. Not all that confident in posting my essay just yet, but I may. :P

Oh, as a note for anyone CALS/Ecology/ILR, they don’t care much at all about SAT scores or high school grades. Especially if you guys are applying as current sophomores or juniors, they focus more on your current college endeavors and grades. I learned that from last year’s support group of past transfers/current students. As well as from the department themselves, when I went to the transfer meeting.

Off to finish this damn lab report…also, anyone else not have things on the CUWebLogin checked off yet? Mine says, they have my college official’s report, my high school transcript, and my common app. The common app website says my payments/supplement were downloaded, so I know they have those somewhere, and I just had my transcripts sent this past week. They also told me I didn’t need another recommendation, so I’m guessing they just have to locate that and post the check-mark. ;)

ok maybe i’m a r-tard, but has anything been posted on the group yet? if so, where am i supposed to look because i keep clicking on things and i can’t see anything.

hhahahha…i was thinking the same thing

i see you guys’ emails…since im a nerd i could look you guys up on facebook lol woo i sound creepy

I thought I was going crazy I didnt see anything either! good to know its not just me LOL

Waterdept- I still have my instructor evaluation unchecked which is weird because my professor sent the LOR early september.

East89- thanks!
Everyone - my stats are on page 3. lol

Wateradept- Though I hadn’t sent in my midterm report, they already forwarded my application to the admissions committee. Also, you said that they don’t care about SAT scores or high school stats, and focus more on your college endeavors and grades. Here’s my situation: I’m going to an art school and realized that I don’t want to spend the rest of my life doing this, which is why I’m going back to what were my “secondary” interests in high school, bio/animals for CALS. All of my college grades are art grades, save a few liberal arts classes that were forced on me besides Ecology, Intro to Psych, Ethnography, and some art history class, all of which I did well on. RISD has no extracurriculars except for “Student Alliance” and some other student government related things, certainly nothing related to animals. So all I really have are my standardized test scores, my essays to show that I really want this, and my high school record (filled with science classes, but not really science activities, because of my initial focus on art).
So my college endeavors/grades have nothing to do with what I’m going to do at CALS, except for my Ecology and current chemistry class. Are they going to auto reject me?

You’re welcome, Az.

Water, you’ve been added.

Everyone else, yea…there’s nothing there yet. I e-mailed Az back about her essays, but of course, that wasn’t a public message. I was kind of waiting for everyone to submit their essays through the group whenever, but I guess I’ll be the first to get the ball rolling and submit mine.

they look at each person differently based on their individual differences, so for you, i’m sure they’ll take a look back at high school. and they still care about scores and high school, but depending on the amount of credits you have, it won’t be weighted as much. but they still look because they have you send them. it’s really weird that yours is with the adcoms already without a midterm report. hmmmm.

mine has been forwarded too…it said that like 3 days ago

Ok, my essays are up on the group as well as a disclaimer (read the “posting to the group” message before replying to any e-mails). Feel free to add yours at any time.

@Aze-nope, sorry I wasn’t very clear, they’ll look more at if you’ve taken the correct courses to transfer in for your impending major, your current GPA (not your HS GPA), but your interests and what not will all be taken into account. I doubt they’d say ‘oh well we can’t have an art major in a school for sciences…’ they’d probably want you a little more, IMO, because it’s diverse background. But that’s just an opinion…either way, I just meant they don’t take your HS GPA or SAT scores into account.

I shouldn’t have said they won’t take endeavors, because they do.
They’ll look at what clubs, sports, teams, jobs, honors classes, electives, and involvement you’ve had.

okay wow…my essays aren’t no where near east89’s …■■■

Urghh. My HS GPA is way more indicative of how well I’ll do at CALS, given it’s full of academics (and higher, at that) and my college GPA (lower) is full of stupid art courses with anal, picky, judgmental teachers. Same with my SATs (though more so APs).

Also, too bad all of my past endeavors are art-related because that’s what I had thought my life’s destiny was lol.

Not feelin’ the love. I should have just applied to Cornell as a freshman in high school, because I probably would have actually gotten in back then, until I ruined my life and went to art school. Hahahaaaaa.

hey Az, if you get in this time then you are paying less tuition for the same diploma. so…let us think positively!! thats what im tryin to do

Just In:

Cornell top 15 school in the world! A head of Standford, Berkley, Brown, Dartmouth. Also making it the 6th best Ivy! Go Cornell!
