Who's applying for Spring transfer 10'-Cornell?

Parents forgot to sign their tax returns, so we have to resend all that + the W-2 forms again, which is annoying, because they could really just keep my tax returns and the sent W-2 forms and just have my parents resend their forms (signed this time) and be done with it.

Oh well.

TNF- good news. i knew Cornell had potentials…lol now the only thing i want is their acceptance package!! lol

What exactly is the point of withdrawing one’s application? If you’ve come this far and paid for/submitted everything, why remove yourself from the admissions process?

Az- Did the financial aid office inform you that your parents didn’t sign it, or did you just realize it on your own? Also, did you just send that stuff out today for the first time?

Not to be morbid, but maybe I guess if an applicant dies…uhhh…maybe their parents would want to avoid the whole acceptance/rejection thing coming in the mail.

Yeah, I called finaid and they said they did actually start processing my fin aid forms (CSS profile and FAFSA stuff, I’m guessing), but that my parents hadn’t signed the tax returns so I have to resend all the tax returns and W-2 forms. I sent everything out within the first few days of September.

Ok, cool. Did you get all of your application materials in, because, to my understanding, they won’t start reviewing mine until all of my materials are in. Unfortunately, this won’t be until Tuesday at the earliest since my history teacher is in the hospital and I can’t get a grade for that class yet.

I actually don’t have my midterm report in (asking my teachers for my grades next week, despite it being 2 weeks early, except for the Brown chem class, which is really the only class that matters. This is partially to my advantage because I can negotiate a grade with my teachers by promising I’ll work my ass off the rest of the semester. Also, a lot of my professors are animal lovers and heartily approve of my decision, lol).
But nevertheless, they seem to have forwarded my stuff to admissions without the midterm report.
And thanks, Jemmayale, for the essay review =) You ARE right about the 2nd essay having less “artistic flair,” the word limit + the specificity of the question was a bit restricting, but I think I got the point across. Haha. And Deathly Hallows, I did like, because you could see the progression of the new regime across time, the use of propaganda and fear to control the masses, and everything just came together in the end. I’m just sad that so many people I liked died. And also, I’ve never really understood whether Harry didn’t die due to the fact he had all 3 Hallows (or was that just a myth) or because of the other reason Dumbledore provided that I don’t remember, and because Harry had become a martyr for all the people in the castle (at the end), why was he still shooting off “Protego” spells when Voldemort was taking aim at people when his “death” protected them?

Hahahaha, that’s awful that I found that funny (an applicant dying…oh gosh, I’m sorry…)

Calling tomorrow to make sure I don’t have to resubmit financial aid forms. Yayy, they check marked everything off for me! Except the instructor evaluation, lol, which is from last year that they said didn’t need to be resent. (They better find it, grumble)

I know what you guys mean about being confident and not on and off. I was so worried yesterday, today I’m riding this high wave after learning so much I feel like my chances are solid.

Still won’t be sending my midterm grades until the 20th though.

Harry Potter had a very messy ending. Rowling clearly attempted to wrap things up…(in my opinion, a particular red haired look-a-like didn’t need to be slain, I found that to be an extraneous death.)

Water, you’re a horrible person for laughing at such a tragic event… na, I’m just kidding. I lol’d a little too.

They still haven’t checked off my college transcript which is strange since that’s the first thing I sent in. I really hope it didn’t get lost in the mail somehow. I don’t even think there’d be a shot of me getting in then, since it took my school about a week to deliver the transcripts to my house.

Incidentally, my anthropology professor wrote me a message on Facebook (yes-- I befriended some of my professors on there) with the letter of recommendation which she submitted to Cornell, Emory and NYU. I’m astonished by some of her comments and I think she’s increased my chances even more.

Also, Ian responded to an e-mail which I sent him yesterday and told me that not taking microecon as of yet will not pose a detriment to my chances since I can always take it at Cornell. I’ll be speaking to him again on Tuesday for an interview. If anyone else is sweating the midterm report, don’t worry about it; Ian told me most people don’t submit it until November.

I’m really feeling good about this stuff right now, but my opinion on this transferring thing is highly mercurial and will most likely change within the next few days.

Az- I wrote a review too. Don’t I get a comment. I thought we were friends :(

Whooops I thought I sent a reply xD I was in a really bad mood yesterday admittedly, painted for 3 hours only to push out a crappy painting. It was one of the “I’m not gonna get into Cornell” days lol.
But of course thank you for your review =) I do admit there was quite some overlap between the two of my essays, but probably because the answers to the two different questions were similar. I should have said a bit more about Cornell specifically in the Why Cornell =x (damn you 750 word limit) but it’s too late now, so hopefully they get the point.

Good luck with the interview. I have my chem midterm tomorrow, but I’m not sweating it.

Az,

You are most welcomed  WARNING: IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE END OF HARRY POTTER DO NOT READ FURTHER I was actually confused at first too. Some people actually argued that Harry did died. I believe he was in a state of limbo but that’s just another issue lol I think the whole master of death was a myth. One of the reason he didn’t died, I believe, was because of what Dumbledore said, that by Voldemort taking Harry’s blood he took Lily’s protection towards Harry. So as long as Voldemort was alive, Harry couldn’t died either because Voldemort carried the one thing that protected Harry above all else. If that makes sense. But I think the primary reason why Harry didn’t die was because of Harry being the seventh horcrux. So what Voldemort did was killed the horcrux within Harry instead of Harry himself. That combined with the protection, helped Harry survive. Now the whole protego fiasco, maybe he didn’t really believed that the protection would work so he decided to do protego just in case lol Better safe than sorry hahaha I know JK Rowling became a Harry Potter serial killer LOL Was it just me or dobby’s, Fred’s, Snape’s (yes, Snape), and Harry talking to his dad, mom, Siruis and Lupin at the brink of his doom, made you cry like a baby? Like every time my family went into my room to tell me something, they were will so worried because I was always in tears hahahaha. Best Quote from the book: NOT MY DAUGHTER YOU *****! awesome!!! hahahahaha

Sorry guys, for all the Harry Potter talk!!

CORNELL RULES! there :)

Az-

lol. It’s cool; I was just kidding. That 750 word limit is really annoying since it forces one to be very concise and prevents one from fully elaborating upon the premises of their argument. Nevertheless, I think you still did a good job and I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

And thanks. Good luck on your midterm as well.

Once again, this site really needs an adequate quoting system.

Well she’s jealous of your mad essay skillz, so she’s ignoring you. Jk.

That’s good (and bad) about midterms. Good because mine might take longer than the 20th (my chem prof might want to include our first exam in it) and bad because it means our decisions take longer (they’re not rolling, they all go out at once…I believe.)

I just checked on the appID thingy. It says you only need to submit new FA forms if ‘you’re applying for a new application processing year’…which I think still means I should call to verify if I have to, haha. I’m pretty sure fall to spring isn’t a new processing year, but who knows.

Actually, admissions says notification is rolling =x (when I called, and on the pdf timetable) So they’ll tell you as they make them, which is intense. I feel like they’ve already started looking at people since I’m sure that many already have everything in. Plus the fact that even without my midterm report, my materials have been forwarded to admissions for review.

This week actually went by really fast. I’m pleased. But I’m also annoyed that my school doesn’t give us a fall break, because I would love to have one.

Le Gasp. Well that’s interesting…so essentially, some people might find out by Halloween. Or a week later. Or…thanksgiving. lol.

Um yeah, hey Cornell, no fair. I want a fall break (just kidding, Cornell! I love you and want entry to your establishments and don’t care if I have to do nine-bazillion essays on the day of your fall breaks! :X)

is it still okay to send rec letters after all this time? i havent got the msg that my apps have been forwarded

I just checked my self svc and my things have been forwarded. I still need to send my midterm grades. I won’t have them for another 2-3 weeks.

grrrrr. My professor sent my recommendation letter during the first week of September and for some reason that is the only part of my application that is unchecked. Everything else that was sent early to mid September (my college official report and my college transcript) is already checked. My application was sent in Oct 1. Maybe the papers are lost somewhere in the office?? To those of you who sent the information early? Did it took long for them to be checked? Ok, I need to breeeatheeee. I am thinking telling my professor to send another copy. Do you think it is wise to do that?

I’m in the same situation! My instructor evaluation was the first piece I sent (early/mid September) and it’s the only piece that remains unchecked.

I sent my college transcript in during the first week of September and it’s the only thing that’s not checked on my status. Once again, just chill. They’re backed up in the office right now and they’ll let you know if you’re missing anything after they sort all of the papers into their designated places.

I have a B+ in Macroecon right now, so I think I’ll wait to see if I can pull it up to an A before I send the midterm report in.

And Jemma, thanks for the review. I’ll respond via e-mail shortly.

ILR Transfer Day! Who’s going on Nov. 4,5,6?
