XDD they accept a certain number of NY students because of a requirement, so yeah. But I don’t think it hurts your chances…it just helps ours…? Maybe that doesn’t make sense.

Um yeah, I applied for Biological Sciences. lol. I know they’re nothing alike, but my communications focal area would be Environment, Science, and Health, because I’m looking into pre-med possibly or grad school for either bio or genetics (or a mixture).

I think Sociology is a better combo fit, though. I doubt many people apply to the CALS-Socio major, so if for any reason communications ‘fills’ then that’d be an opening.

Thanks, water! and yeah I really wanna get in to Cornell…like RIHGT NOW!! I don’t care which one coz both deal with intellectual property which I am going to purdue. lol I don’t really like this university that I attend right now coz our program sucks. So yeah…please cornell take me in lol

Oh again, I just found out another bad reason to be depressed. On the common app, I put a wrong frat that I’m not in…is this something that I need to contact with the admissions office? I highly doubt that they’ll check, but…I don’t know…does it matter? (Delta Chi -> Sigma Alpha Chi)

awesome!! I just looked up the previous page and you seem to be from Calif. I used to live in Phoenix, so not too far away lol anyway I hope we all get in and we’ll all be friends for real!!

Is anyone else amazed at how big this thread got? I mean its not a bad thing, but I remember when this thread was only 3-4 pages long! In a sense its also a bit scary too see at immense population applying for spring transfer lol.

When you think about it, Fosho, there’s only like, a good 15 of us tops on this thread, there’s just a ton of posts (and the occasional floater asking/answering a question lol).

But I agree with what was said earlier, you get a good feel for the competitiveness of the semester by seeing how many college confidential members are applying.

I have no clue honestly, but I think the stats are like, around 600ish apply for spring transfer and 230-250 get in?

Fall stats are very different from spring, but:
Number of transfers who applied for fall term: 2,918
Number of transfers who were admitted for fall term: 801
Number of transfers who enrolled for fall term: 617

It’s really depressing to know I was one of the 184 students who didn’t accept their admission >_____<

agreed, if you wanna see depressing go to the fall transfers decision thread. I mean a countless amount of students with impressive stats getting rejected. It makes the wait-time for decisions that much more nerve racking!

BTW, Oct.29th is transfer day at my school and a representative from cornell will be there.
If anyone has questions they would like me to ask him, just pm me and I will ask him. I should probably mention this closer to the 29th but nevertheless as VP for my schools transfer club, I will be able to talk to him before the crowds of students ender the room.

Val- There actually aren’t too many NY residents in this thread. Additionally, only the contract colleges are funded by the state of New York; the endowed colleges are privately funded. That’s my understanding, anyway.

east, I really don’t think you have to worry. Your college performance pretty much blasts away whatever you did in high school, plus, you really show dedication to what you’re going into with all those clubs and classes. Your essays were concise and to the point about why you feel GSU is no longer for you, and they were good reasons.

Finaid has now updated to say that they have my parent’s tax returns, but not mine. Either they “lost” my tax returns for the 2nd time we’ve sent them in, it hasn’t processed, or the fax machine on the other end is eating paper as an energy source. Hmm.

Oh yeah, I went to ask for midterm reports today from my teacher, and she said it was too early and to come back next week with work from other classes. She did say, however, not to worry and that extra work wouldn’t be necessary. I guess I shouldn’t be rushing midterm reports anyway, since it’s a ?tiny? factor in the decision process. But I guess I’ll give my teachers a week-ahead warning and ask them if I should do some extra work so they can give a better evaluation.

Thanks. I just tend to worry about these things from time to time. The only thing which really bothers me is a couple of withdrawals on my record (although they were for good reasons and were explained fully on the additional information section of the common app.) I’ve always been my toughest critic, so I always feel like there’s more that I could have done to make myself seem more competitive. I guess it’s too late to ponder on what I could have done now, though.

^–Yup. Don’t worry about midterms, they just want to see you’re continuing your studies properly. I’m not asking until after October 20th, since my first few grades will be in the bank by then.

Yea, east…GSU might not be in the top university in the Nation, but you have an outstanding GPA. My GPA sucks balls (3.7) If you don’t get in, I’m dead

My sister is about to give birth to my first and only nephew!!! Sooooo soooo happy!!! Like-jumping-up-and-down-and-doing-the-carlton-dance happy. Im an auntie!!!

I know its totally unrelated to Cornell and the torture were feeling now. But I had to share this moment with you guys. I’m just sooo ugh there’s no words!! Sometimes when we are stressing out if we get in or not, we need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Cornell is for many of us a dream come true. But stressing about if we got in or not, or why I didn’t do this, its not good for our mental, emotional and physical health People lets just embrace the positive and forget our nerves and stresses. Life doesn’t have a bow wrapped around it but it is certainly a gift. And right now around the world, somebody has brought a new life to Earth. A new dreamer. Lets just be grateful that we actually have the opportunity to study and reach for a better education. Many people don’t have that luxury and would do anything for just one day, be in the situation we are now, to be hopeful about the future. We are amazing individuals, who took the most important step a human being can take, to reach for the best and not being a content with conformity. We did it. We applied. Be proud. The biggest job on our part is done. It is now turn to the AO to see what we can offer.

jemma, congratulations! i can’t imagine how excited you are hehe

i think we’re all okay in the chance world. water, what was your gpa when you applied for the fall?

also, am i the only person applying who’s going to transfer day? brandnew is coming with me i believe, so we’ll both be there. i think we should make a list so we can all meet up or whatever :)

Good to hear GPA’s not as big of a factor for CALS lol, because mine’s certainly not a 3.9.

I’d like to go too >_> Not sure about the registering thing. When you click on the CALS link on the transfer day web page, it just shows you a page of “typical tours on weekdays/weekends.” I guess you have to sign up for a day of tours?
