So for any other new people reading or just starting to post, did anyone else apply to AEM? I’m interested in the competition haha.

oh yeah definitely water. you’re fine lol, no doubt about it. i just mean if other people get it they may not know about water’s situation so we shouldn’t be like oh hey that definitely means acceptance, you know? but we all know water’ll be there in january lol

hey water, yes im applying as a comm major. and seems like you’ve been admitted judging from the phone call, meaning one spot is already taken…im happy for you but…this means…sigh…plz cornell. have lots of spots available for comm majors

it was only an email, not a phone call, haha, I’d put more emphasis on a ‘YES IM IN’ had it been a phone call.

but the reason i asked is because your GPA blows mine out of the water, so I’d place your chances above mine.

In my mind, I like to put myself in this situation. They get my application and say, ‘alright he’s been admitted once and couldn’t attend because of something like money issues. As long as he doesn’t come back with like, Cs and under on his grades for spring/summer/midterm, he should be good.’

I mean I’ve already once demonstrated good fit for CALS and passion for the major/classes and Cornell in particular, and I tried to do so again in this application (albeit in a very basic way, as ironic knows because she read my essay).

All I know is, in my mind, to be denied instead of getting in or receiving a GT for fall, there better have been CRAZY competition for spring semester. (As in, 90 applicants like valvsu lol.)

getting a GT would hurt…but it wouldn’t be the end of the world (well…yeah, it would be for the first two weeks after getting it, haha.)

I watching youtube videos of when people find out they got accepted. I soooo want to be in the same position. Waiting :(

You know, it would help if we talked about normal things which don’t have to deal with Cornell in order to get our minds off of decisions.

…How bout them Yankees? Heh.

Like instigating a useless argument with some poor child trying to ask for transfer advice?

I don’t watch baseball :(

And yes, that’s a great idea Riley. continues to instigate

You can’t be mad at me, though. You started the argument ;)

I like his idea better.

Indeed. Riley’s idea>>> This thread.

^^^^responding to water

yea i may have a higer GPA but as everybody says on this thread, GPA isn’t everything (thank god for that matter coz i dont have a killer GPA at all) it seems that CALS puts a good emphasis on what’s called ‘fit’.

i did and have been thinking that you, water will be accepted since you have been accepted once…and if you have been maintaining your GPA then why not again. i will be surprised if i see you receiving a GT.

speaking of my case, im not a NY resident or even northern resident for that matter. this is my first time applying and i thought i was doing a right thing and did intensive research on cornell, but easily what i have been doing is not the right way in terms of falling in this ‘fit’. i think my EC’s are very impressive but i dont know what they are really looking for. taking an exective position in my club, being an honor student, or completing higher level classes might not be the thing that they are looking for. i showed my passion on my essays, and showed why my current school is not good enough in terms of academics, diversity, and availability of resourses thou it is a great school and i enjoy my life here.

i feel now that i shouldve contacted cornell in person, that way they will recognize me as to a personal level. i never really personally talked to any admissions officers. this might lower my chances.

i seriously thought about calling cornell to see whats up for me. but i decided not to do that because always the first person (calpoly in this sense) gets in, and the second person doesnt from my experieces. (ATTENTION!! this theory is not based on facts lol)

sorry for being long, but i do wanna get in. if i dont…ill go nuts lol but im willing accept it in proper manner and congratulate everybody who has got in

I’m in the same boat as you! I’m from California, and I never even once spoke to anyone from Cornell. I regret it. I have a good gpa as well, but I’m not sure I really conveyed my “fit” as well I could have if I did it again.

Oh well, won’t be long now

thanks Riley, but you missed one little part of my long comment

i dont have a killer GPA like yours (as in 4.0) mine is pretty weak actually for Cornell, 3.68. and have withdrawn from three classes…well with good reasons, which i did put on comm app (first one- changed my major, second one- the teacher changed, third one- the teacher stopped coming to class, had substitutes every day, and the grades were just utterly unknown)

the thing i want cornell to consider is that i have been making straight A’s in the lastest three semesters, but i feel you guys will tell me they just look at the overall GPA

Thank god I’m not the only one that’s withdrawn from classes. I was starting to feel alone. I also withdrew from three, but provided good reason for two (financial reasons. It’s a long story), while the first was just a bs “welcome to college” course that doesn’t count for anything, anyway. I do have a 3.92 gpa, so I was hoping that would mitigate the Ws.

3.92…hmm that does make me feel better lol

lol. Well we’re applying to different colleges, so we’re not competing with each other.

understandable. I still think every one of our main posters here have great shots at being accepted.

@Calpoly if he gets on again lol: Did you receive an acceptance email too? Cathy emailed me last year a week before I got my ‘yes’ letter in the mail. Crossing my fingers for all of us…this is going to be a very stressful Halloween weekend, especially since all I’m doing is working and catching up on the shows I missed this week (not much of a halloween person, lol. That and hardly any of my friends are local anymore/most people going to my CC are older people/dirty smoking ‘im in college because i have to be’ people. You can see why I want out, haha)

What happened? I thought a no-cornell rule was implemented. In honor of halloween, whats your favorite scary movie? (I know is generic but lets start from there.

Mine is The Exorcist. Its the only movie that has literally given me nightmares.

O yea, I forgot about that.

I don’t really get frightened by scary movies. In fact, I don’t really care for them.
