i like scary movies. i mean the “scary movie” but this movie reminds me of me and my ex laughing together lol

I despise scary movies. After I watched the japanese version of the Grudge (Ju-On), I was traumatized. Never again, I say.

On another note, Halloween is a big thing here at RISD (a lot of students make their own costumes, given we have an apparel and a textiles department), and we have something called artist’s ball. I’m going as Sailor Mars. Lol.

How about cheesy scary movies, like the Killer Clowns in Outer Space? When I was little I was terrified of Chucky. I saw it a couple of months ago and it is the funniest thing in the world. It’s a doll for crying out loud. You kick it and throw it out. Put him in the freezer until he freezes to death. lol

Chucky was a dumb horror franchise to begin with. A homicidal doll just isn’t scary.

When you seven years old surrounded by many creepy porcelain dolls, its scary. lol

hahaha i would imagine

Paranormal activity !

^^^I heard that movie really sucks.

lol …i couldn’t sleep for a week !! even now im still scared sometimes…lol

AND just to add to that…i actually asked my friend after we saw it if the movie was real…

…yupp…i know lol
■■■

lol…I saw a movie rating show, and the guy who was rating paranormal activity said, “I went to the movies saying pff this movie isn’t real and at the end i was shaking saying this movie isn’t real, the movie isn’t real” and he does the rocking motion LOL

IDK. I keep hearing that it sucks. Anyway, it’s nice to not have a conversation about Cornell, for once. :)

How’s life for everyone?

I hate scary movies because they’re all the same, lol. Everyone dies except the girl and MAYBE the guy.

Not really, but when I said that to a friend at work she goes, ‘well if you say it like that, all movies are exactly the same as their genre.’

But still, I prefer suspense over ‘scary’ movies. There’s just no reason for chainsaws, bloody severed heads, or deformed ghosts trying to eat you lol. Give me comedy/action over that crap any day (and like I said, not a big Halloween fan-as soon as November hits I’m in full-blown Holiday Season mode, haha.)

Life is good overall. Just got my 4th stripe on my white belt for karate. Trying to get to yellow in two weeks so my one friend and I can surprise our other friend who’s been doing karate for years (he’s the one at Siena.) He doesn’t know we’ve been taking lessons/classes since the beginning of August. It’s really fun and a great workout.

Work is also like, fun for me right now. I only work at Target, but I’m like a trainer now because I’ve been there a year and we’re hiring seasonal help, so I teach people cashier/guest services, haha. Target is a great place to work, good feeling/environment (unlike bleh, Wal-Mart)

@ Water,

I only received a package in the mail, and haven’t noticed a change on self service. I called the next day to make sure it was for real, and indeed, it was. The acceptance letter went like this:

"Congratulations! The admissions selection committee in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences has approved your application for admission to Cornell University for the spring semester, 2010. I am delighted to share this wonderful news with you and to welcome you to the Cornell University community!

Competition for admission into this year’s class was particularly keen, and you emerged as one of the top students in our exceptional spring applicant pool. We are confident that you are the kind of student who will take best advantage of the nearly inexhaustible range of activities outside of the Cornell classroom. I look forward to having you join the students and faculty here who, together, contribute to the rigorous intellectual tradition of this outstanding university"

There is more, but the latter is most important. I thought some of you might want to read it to get a sense of the “competition.” I got in with a 3.391, but have taken quite a few hard classes. I am also a California resident.

andy’s GT letter said the same thing, except instead of spring '10 it said fall '09. my rejection letter also had similar statements, just reverse all the positives lol. congrats again though. you’re so lucky to know you’re going already! you must be so excited. and you get to fill out all the housing and stuff woooooo

as for our movie discussion, i absolutely hate scary movies and even the previews scare the daylights out of me. i’m such a big baby. but i do love halloween and i LOVELOVELOVE christmas, so i’m really happy that they’re both so soon.

Competition was keen o.o…rahhhh…ahhhh…
Sigh.
I’ve been kind of gazing off into space during class lately, and my mind has gone so far as to write the first and last paragraph of my next why transfer essay if I need to write one. Lol.
But, my parents are behind me 100% on this, which I am thankful for…I just want the next month and a half of my life to be done already, though.

Awesome to know GPA-wise, since I’m in the 3.2-3.3 range as well (will be like, a 3.5 after this semester because of the ease of classes, despite my midterm grades.)

Also very nice to know that that’s basically EXACTLY what my fall acceptance read (except mine said ‘the committee advises you to take Biology 2 course this summer’ for the pre-req that i hadn’t finished).

Yours was a lot more personal, calp, I wonder if they do that for spring applicants or just for the exceptional ones, lol. Good job again!

@Az: Yeah at the very least you can take comfort knowing you won’t be art-ing next semester! And I complain a ton about living at home and going to a CC, but working actually makes it feel more like real life and it’s good if you know/make some friends to hang with so you’re not bugged by your parents endlessly, blah.

…So yeah, back to not discussing Cornell. hahaha. I can’t wait to work Black Friday, honestly. The extreme business makes it fun!

what are you guys doing for halloween? one of my best friends is coming home to trick or treat with me and we’re going to take my 1 year old cousin out for her first halloween, and then probably hit up some parties after.

I’ll be reading a book which I have to write a 3 page response to for China/Japanese history and applying to NYU and Emory, just because I’m cool like that.

East do me a favor, can you screw up a bit with the emory essay. So I won’t feel as bad about my essay competing with an essay written by a walking SAT-words dictionary. Please and thank you.

I won’t be doing much. Halloween in PR is celebrated at Yelloween (a HUGE party sponsored by our local beer Medalla, its crazy! ) So im just staying at home watching scary movies, with some popcorn not the most WOOHOO LETS PARTY kind of person hahaha

But good news, CHRISTMAS IS COMING CHRISTMAS IS COMING! there!
