who's applying this year?

wow a lot of people here are doing ID . hows the acceptance rate for ID?

YES there is a point in doing the Common App. The only reason I'm still waiting for it to come out is because the essay topic is different. It should be out sometime this month.

So the essay topic on the Rice App is a lot more stringent then? The way I see it right now, you can turn in Part I of the Rice App by filling in your basic info and get all your essays & the box and whatnot at once. However, you have to first polish your Common App before sending it in, and you have to do it early enough to give you time to work on the supplement. That's why I'd like to know how difficult the essay prompt on the Rice app is, because if it's just a write-on-any-topic deal, it'd be more advantageous to do the Rice app than the common app, no?

i'll most likely be doing ED. good luck everyone. =]

I'm doing ED :D

Add me to the list. ID.

I'll be applying RD for physics (or astrophysics).

Hi!
what's the advantage of applying ID over ED or RD?

There is a slightly higher acceptance rate. But this is partly due to the fact that the applicants who apply early are better applicants.

Apply ED if Rice is your first choice and you could afford it (not 100%, you would get aid - but make sure it isn't completely out of range). You are obligated to go if your are accepted.

There is very little reason to apply RD when there is ID. It just lets you know by Februrary instead of April. And you are not obligated to go for either.

Count me in, most likely ED

@ misterme2009,Thanks!
I applied RD because i had no clue on what ID really was.

what is this "box" everyone keeps talking about?

I'm applying ED, which means I probably should start on my application now, considering almost everybody has done it already. =D

ceecee: Go look at Part II of the Rice app. :] I'm quite excited about it; it's a nice touch to liven up the college app process.

don't worry, Shina. I don't think I even decided to apply to Rice ED until late September.

i say everyone should apply. why the heck not?

I agree .

because then our chances are diminished.
