Who's applying this year?

oo nice...i went from a 23-28

Out of state
2060 SAT [1400 M+V]
3.6 GPA

Good Luck to everyone

Did you use one of those books, umardarr?

Oh I went through a sad sad stage of frustration LOL...I took a ACT course through Sylvan Learning Center (yea the one that dumb grade school kids go through hahaha). But yea I did one of those...it helped me a lot cause the main problem with me was slowness. After I took the ACT, I became fast at the SAT and that score shot up too.

Im sorry if im adding offtopic discussion- but what were your guys' act scores compared to your PLAN test scores? The pre-test gave me a range of 23-27 and I ended up with a 27 on my ACT. I used a book for study too but I only went from up from 25. I did improve a lot on my english/reading though.

guess what my PLAN score was?? an 18!!! yeah that was WAY WAY off

I got a 26 on the act. 30 and 31s on all sections except for science reasoning where I pulled off an impressive 18.

Same thing happened to me, but with reading. 31E, 30M, 29S, and.... 21R.

the reading section is actually not hard at all...its really easy. The only problem with me was time. It was SO freakin hard for me to pull off 40 questions in 35 minutes. The first time I got a 21 reading, then a 28.

and science is just a pain in the ass dudes lol...After my 3 tries I only went from a 21 to a 25 lol.

umardarr, 18 on plan -> 28 on act??? Wow, so much for the plan test lol

did you go up each time you retook the ACT? I'm wondering if I should or not, because a friend of mine got a 25, 25, then a 24 on the third try. Do you think my chances will be harmed if I end up scoring lower?

You have a 27...if it goes down the 3rd time, then they will take your 27 and you'll still be fine. Remember a 27 is still in between the middle 50% ACT scores which is 26-30. You should take it 1 more time I think...just try, a 27 is not bad but it can get better.

And yea mine went up each time. 23 --> 26 --> 28

out of state
GPA 3.7UW
SAT 2210/1530(math+verbal)
SAT2 USH 790 math2c 800 Chem 780 Physics 790
no ACT

my PLAN said a 22-26, but I got a 27 the first try and then a 30 for my final score, unless I retake once more, but don't think I will. So my PLAN was way off as well.

the first time I took the ACT I got a 21 on science, and then the next time I got a 30 on science. I just calmed down and didn't rush so much the second time around.

WHAT?!?! You only have to write TWO essays?!?! I have to write three for UMich! Two short answers and one long essay!

I'll be applying

in-state, 33 ACT, 4.0 GPA uw

If I don't get into Michigan I think I'm going to really be screwed.

lol, It's really bad luck if you don't cause it seems just from those 3 stats you will.

dsmo - there's no way you won't get in.

That SHOULD get you into Michigan, but stranger things have happened. I remember that someone came on here a few weeks back and stated that her son's ACT was in the 30's, had a 3.8 UW GPA, and was in-state and still didn't get accepted here. That information sitll boggles my mind.

Actually I just found it. Here's the link:

oos, legacy

1520 old sat (790m 730v), taking the new one in OCT should be 2200+
4.0UW
2 800 sat IIs
OOS
Hopefully the fact that I have to wait for this new sat score before I can apply will not have a detrimental effect on my chances.
