Who's attending SADIOS?

I'm pretty sure I am! For the Thursday overnight and Friday overnight. I'm going to RSVP tomorrow and try and get an airplane ticket; I'll be the only one going- my parents will have to work, and they want to save some money on airfare.

Does anyone know what kind of times we should shoot for for the airplane departures and arrivals if we're coming in Thursday and leaving Saturday? Do they require a specific time to get there and a specific time to leave afterwards?

I think I'll be there Friday, April 11th for SADIOS; I'm so excited! I wish I could overnight.

I'm leaving some time after 6 PM Thursday and coming in really late, like early Friday morning haha. I guess it depends on where you live and how long it takes to get there. If you're doing the overnight you have to get there by 4:30 I think.

I'm going for the overnight on Thursday but not overnight on Friday. My flight's really early thursday morning because southwest had really good deals for that flight, and my dad and I are going to look at some other schools that morning/afternoon before we go to Scripps. I'm leaving late Friday night and driving down to San Diego to visit UCSD on Saturday.

We just bought our ticket (right after they got all booked/got all expensive... dang) and I'll arrive around noon. My flight on Saturday leaves around 9amish. Anyone coming around or leaving around that time?

If so, if you'd like to split a cab to and from Scripps, tell me! :)

^ If you don't find someone to split, Super Shuttle is probably a better deal than a cab. You can make a reservation or just catch a shuttle (might have to wait a bit w/o a reservation, but Claremont's not far from Ontario airport, so it's never too bad). The last price I remember was around $18 (+ tip), but it might've gone up some. This, of course, is assuming that the school isn't offering transportation, which I'm not sure about. Anyway, just a note :)

Enjoy SADIOS...it's a fun event! My personal recommendation: the 5C tours (the consortium is such a significant part of campus life, it's nice to get a feel for how it might actually affect you, and by walking through it with a Scripps perspective, not just hearing about it or taking separate tours).

Im staying over night on wednesday....
so ill probably miss all you girls :(
oh well... still get to visit :)

anyone by chance staying wednesday??

I'm putting together details for my D. right now - looks like fly out Thurs AM, be there in time for overnight, back Saturday night

I'm coming with my D to visit, too! Our plane from SEA lands around 10 am at ONT (Alaska) on Thurs and leaves at 9:30 Fri. I'm going to rent a car and I think I can fit a couple of passengers in the back seat of my compact (but I have a feeling Dollar will give me a minivan again , so the back seat migh be a bit roomier). Any takers for a free ride, PM me!

I called the office to RSVP, and I think Lynzie Deveres mentioned getting picked up possibly by students or getting groups of girls coming in around the same time together. I'm not sure though. But yeah. Maybe she'll call me back or other girls about it.

I'm going! ... But I still have to RSVP. Is there still room?

I want to meet everyone from CC there! If we get nametags, put your screen name on there, too! xD (Lol, I'd look so weird walking around with my name and then "catsushi" below it).

^ Hahaaaaaa.

See you there - My d is doing the overnight Thursday, and then I'll be around for the Friday activities.

It was so nice meeting everyone, especially catsushi (:
Haha it was so unexpected ^^

^^Haha that was soooo funny. We were standing and waiting for the Psychology presentation, and then you go "Hey, are you Catsushi?". I think the girl who was leading us was kind of freaked out as we tried to explain to her that we met on a forum, haha. Awesome!

And it was great meeting you and your daughter, too, Chaucers_pal. I hope she enjoyed her Scripps visit! I know I did. :)

how was SADIOS? details please :)

SADIOS was extremely fun!!! Every single person that I met was extremely nice and helpful and friendly, both current students and other "prospies". The campus is beautiful, especially since it was such a gorgeous day, and the food is really, really good (even though my host was complaining that it wasn't as good as usual). The dorms were spacious, clean, and pretty quiet. You could hear people walking around and talking, but nothing obnoxious. So, yes, I have officially decided on Scripps :)

annak-is there something specific that you would like to know/hear about.

catsushi- I was at the psychology presentation too, though I came in kind of late

I enjoyed it extremely. Swayed me mucho. My host was extremely nice, although the main "complaint" I had was that she didn't seem really enthusiastic about being there so it didn't make me enthusiastic if you know what I mean. But it's okay because I met up with a friend. Campus is gorgeous, and faculty is extremely nice as well from who I met. So are the prospies and the current students. I went to a Biology/Pre-Med/Sciences information session at the Keck Center, a 5C tour, CORE information session, and sat in on 2 classes (Cognitive Psych and the last 20 minutes of a COREII).

rosiebee- how was the psychology session? I wasn't able to go but I wanted to!

gracieloos, what was the CORE class like? Was there any discussion?
Unfortunately, I didn't sit in on any classes!!

They were just finishing up their discussion in the CORE class, so it wasn't extremely vibrating with action- but the topic was interesting and for the most part I could follow what they were talking about. I think the class was about food? And the economics/politics of it? I don't know the class title. But it was very interesting, and everyone seemed friendly with each other and while there were some students who were quiet, there wasn't a blank silence at any time- it was team taught by two professors. It was in the humanities building, and all the chairs were organized into a circle, including the professors. The reading seemed pretty heavy from what I saw of their packets, but from what I heard in the last 20 minutes when they were wrapping up, it was a really interesting topic at least to me.
