I can’t go I haven’t even had the opportunity to visit the campus yet. My parents don’t think it’s worth driving 20 hours round trip to go.

Can’t wait for orientation though.

I’ll be there for quite a while playing in the pepband. Everybody should stop by and listen to us and say hi!

aww srry Adamantoise I’ll be sure to post up any useful info I find out. I haven’t seen the campus yet either so it’s pretty nerve-wracking/exciting.

Orientation will definitely be fun but since it’s so long from now, have you seen all those ucsd videos posted up by students and faculty on youtube? They are pretty interesting and informative :)

Oh, so the famous cc’er KingsElite is in the pepband. I better watch them perform then :)

@Adamantoise

Will they not let you fly here and back either?

@kingselite: They are overprotective and don’t want me to fly over by myself(no family over there). Plus, they still think it’s silly to pay $150 to visit UCSD for a day, but I think it’s worth it…especially if I find out I actually don’t like the campus (I probably will love it though, but of course, I’m not 100% certain).

^Aren’t you going to be in college alone though? And $150 is nothing compared to what college costs obviously. Oh well. Obviously I think UCSD is a great place, but it’s just unfortunate that you can’t visit. For me, if my parents didn’t let me visit here, I wouldn’t be going here right now. That’s just me though.

Exactly! Well, money is tight for us currently, since my brother is a sophomore at a UC right now, so that could be their ulterior motive. Otherwise, I think they would just buy a ticket for me and then one of them could come with me as well. Not seeing the campus isn’t a dealbreaker for me, so I’ll be fine, but I think it would still be a great opportunity.

I will! Going to talk to some upper-div engineers and get a personal take on the engineering at UCSD…pretty excited

Wait, on the admit day on April 9 day you have to pay $150?

If you have to buy a $150 flight to San Diego in order to attend the free Admit Day, then yes. Otherwise, no.

i believe admit day in april is at no cost. However, the orientation in august will cost $150 because you sleep a night at SD at your college? (Not quite sure about this)

I REALLY want to go to admit day but it’s on the same day as UCLA’s admit day :(

I’m going! Flying down the Friday night before.

I’ll be tabling for the Programs Abroad Office on Admit day, hope to talk to all of you!! I personally didn’t go to Admit day before I got here, but volunteered last year and then am getting paid for it this year; it’s really fun, Marshall has the cultural celebration, tons of clubs are tabling…if you want to see what the campus looks like but can’t go in April, check out the pictures posted on this site.

I’m driving two hours down there! (From the LA area)

I’ll be there with my dad after a flight from Mexico City to LA then a 2 hour drive from LA to SD. If anyone wants to meet up I’ll be the one with the Black Golden State Warriors Sweatshirt and a Turban (no i am not joking)

flying down from san francisco with the fam, sooo excited :)))
