On April 15-16?! Btw, did you get your confirmation email yet?

I went for the 2-day Cal Day one last year and I’m hosting for that day this year. Excited to meet some new freshies!

Cool! I’m not sure how it all works, bit I’m guessing all the info will be in the confirmation email? Is our host the same one that emailed us (asking if we had any questions, etc.)?

The Regents Scholar Contact Program is completely different from the actual OHP. Your host at the OHP is much less planned. Last year, I just met a bunch of people after the small presentation at VLSB and you pretty much get to choose who you want your host to be after meeting a bunch of them. The OHP is much less organized than you would think. However, it’s still a really really awesome experience, but you have to make sure to go out to all the optional events. Technically, you could just chill with your host or anyone else at Berkeley for that matter the entire time you’re visiting.

Does qualifying for the Regents and Chancellor’s Scholarship indicate an acceptance to Berkeley?

What did you guys put down for CalNet ID/SID # (8 digits numerical) on the waiver? All I have is my UC Application #, but that’s 7 digits.

@Napster I read several places that it does! And from the website, Cal invites the top 1% of applicants for Regents

@quomodo I just put my UC app number

Last year, Regents Scholars were invited to an interview. At the interview, they were told that they were accepted. Not sure if it is the same this year. Getting invited for Regents is definitely a very good sign.

IIRC for the CalNet ID/SID, you can login to myBerkeleyApp and find it listed on the right panel of the homepage.

When should we expect confirmation emails? I sent everything a week ago and still haven’t gotten anything…and the website & contact email aren’t working for me for some reason :

Wooohoo! Go Cal!

They made an ROHP facebook page, and it says to put your UC ID # instead of the Cal ID #. You only get that after you tell them you’re going to their school for sure.

Dude, I’m excited, Berkeley is amazing.

@187 For the 2-day cal day one, will we just be staying overnight on the 15th? Or is the 16th too? I’m wondering so I can book my ticket (:

^ You can choose either one.

So we can either stay overnight for one OR two days? Sorry, I have a few other questions --which one would you recommend and should I plan to leave the morning of april 17? What is the best way to get from the Oakland Airport to Cal?

Thank you!

Oakland Airport to Cal: Walk out of terminal. Pay $3 to get on AirBART (you may see a line of people waiting for this bus, which takes you to the nearest BART station). Arrive at BART and buy your ticket. Get on the Richmond line. Get off at the Downtown Berkeley station. You’ll come out at the intersection of Center and Shattuck. From there you should know how to get to campus. You just walk down Shattuck, turn left on Bancroft…

And ASK the locals if you need directions.
