who's got the biggest reach?

nicely said. That was a very good post. I agree with you.

I had only one EC which was only in my senior year. I applied to MIT and got rejected. The rejection letter was something like Hahahahahahahahaha.

Attend another school, become ultra successful and after you become a household name, send them a thank-you letter for rejecting you.

Haha, the ultimate cruel irony. Hopefully I get into my first choice school.

My reach is Carolina

3.8 gpa. 640 math, 640 verbal, 570 writing.

75/312 rank

Lots of C's and a D in honors pre-calc.

ECs - DECA (president), FBLA, and like 12 hours community service, freshman basketball.

well, it's pretty good you got a 3.8 w/ c's and a d, right? means you took hard classes.

sometimes I wonder why everyone applies to these super-competitive schools like HYP... most of them seem really overrated, anyway, and you'd probably get a similar (perhaps better) education elsewhere.

Is the 3.8 gpa weighted. It would make sense only if it were weighted. I don't see how you could get that if it were unweighted.

My biggest reach is the University of Chicago. I am not getting in.

GPA: 100.033
Rank: 22/240
SATI: 610M, 650V, 620W
SATII: 760 USH, 680 World
APs: 5-APUSH, taking Environmental, English Lit., and World History

ECs: play bagpipes, started service project, lots of community service, President of the History, Academic Challenge, and Law Club
UN Millennium Campaign Student Leader, Eucharistic Minister

Actually, you stand a more than fair chance of getting in, and the only problem as far as I can see is your test scores, which are nothing stellar...but hey. Who am I to talk...I'm in the same boat!

Reaches: Cornell, Duke, JHU, UVA

3.85 weighted more or less 3.5 unweighted

2160 SAT 760 CR 740 WR 660 M

32 ACT

SAT II: math2c=660 french=620 ushist=690

wheeeeeeee

wow, you play the bagpipes? That's really cool!

Anyway, my biggest reaches are stanford, duke, and columbia. I REALLY want to go to duke. Princeton's on there too, but that's sort of beyond reach and into hopeless. But my dad lives there, so yeah.

SAT 2160 ACT 32 GPA 4.35 rank: 11/500 something.

My sat scores are what kinda kill me. My math and science are always really low. Like, 660. My writing and reading were 740 and 760, respectively.

I've got NHS, ballet, piano, National merit commended, ap scholar, board of education award, and some other stuff.

but yeah, the test scores are just not doin' it.

NYU
Cal
UCLA

GPA: 3.77 UW/ 4.1 UC/ 4.3 W
SAT I: 1980 (yowzas!)
SAT II MATH: 670 (yikes!)

296/2150
33 ACT
3.7

UT business

Reach: Stanford

2280 SAT (800 writing, 750 critical reading, 730 math)
760 SAT2MATH
GPA: 3.9 UW/4.3 W
RANK: 12/75 (dannnnnng.)
ECS: soph. vice president, senior class president, prom committee, NHS, national merit commended scholar, piano, and some other stuff.
WORK: kumon (4 hrs,tutor, 9-11), coldstone (shift manager, 15 hrs, 11-present)
OTHER: i have a rare (sometimes fatal) lung disease called PAP... i'm hoping that'll do the trick...

A REAL REACH----

2.6 gpa, 1670 sats 610m 540v 520w, middle eastern, some ec's

Syracuse and WPI

but ill probably get into WPI, the coach told me not to worry about my transcript...

this thread is awesome!

yea my gpa is weighted. Unweighted I have a 3.3. Our school weights 5 points for honors and 6 for aps

3.25 (w), in the top 30 percent, SAT scores in the 1700ish, SAT 2s both 600-650.

But I "supposedly" have excellent ECs. (teachers and counselors tell me)

UCB, UCLA, and almost all UCs.

THAT'S depressing.

My big reaches:
NYU (Steinhard, Communications Major) & University of NC Chapel Hill (Out of State).

GPA: 3.7 UW (3.8 W)
Rank: 60/365 (Pretty competitive school, considering I am have an A average percentage wise and am only in the 2nd decile)
SAT: 2160/1360 600M 760V 780CW (11 essay)
SAT II: 710 Lit 750 French w/ Listening
Will have taken a total of 7 AP exams upon graduation.

Perks: French & Mariah Carey. I also attended the Governor's Honors Program in French, minor in Computers/Web Design

Downfall: Grades. Going to get once C this semester, 2 Bs, 3 As

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!

this thread was much more interesting when people with actual low stats posted rather than people with 2100+ scores posted; no offense themagster, but I don't think you belong in this thread...
