ACCEPTED

My application was complete on Jan 5th (with transcript and SAT scores all received). I just got my decision today (well it may have came out a few days already…) so it took them around 5 weeks to give me a decision. I RAN AROUND THE HOUSE CRAZY WHEN I SAW MY DECISION it totally made up for being rejected by HKU!

Earlier someone copied and pasted my older post. I would just like clarify. I was admitted to MSU with a 3.0 gpa and 25 act. Although this may seem not as impressive as others you are missing a giant part of the picture. My essay was most likely the best essay they have recieved, not trying to be concided, but it was really, really good. I also have extremely strong EC’s. I have participated in chorus for 14 years, done a singing competetion for 7 and did A LOT of community service. Please don’t be so quick to judge.

@kramerkks- Are you international (because your english spelling is off- I’m not trying to be a jerk, it’s a serious question. Please don’t take it the wrong way)?

I may have been me that copied and pasted your response. I wasn’t quick to judge, just responding to your stats.

You may have had a wonderful essay and I am sure your EC’s were good, but I wouldn’t say it was " most likely the best essay they have recieved, not trying to be concided, but it was really, really good." I am sure MSU has received some phenomenal essays.
Singing is wonderful, but there are a lot of appliants that have very unique and creative EC’s. Not to say singing it not, but that is your opinion.

Deferred, awaiting seventh semester grades. As of seventh semester, 3.44 WGPA, around 3.9 UW, 30 composite on ACT. Marching band for two years, quiz bowl for one year, and varsity tennis for one year.

D received an OOS Honors College National Scholarship with her invitation to be part of the Honors College. Also a 1 time study abroad award.
Accepted to MSU/Lyman Briggs late January, Honors letter early February. We couldn’t re-arrange plans and make it to the ADS weekend. That was unfortunate, but to be honest, MSU is not her first choice. She applied because mom and dad are both alumni and wanted her to! She loves MSU but will probably choose a school much smaller.

^ I would encourage her not to rule out MSU simply because of size, ESPECIALLY if she is in a residential college. I was nervous about going to such a large school, but being in a residential college makes the university seem much, MUCH smaller but I still have the resources of a large university at my fingertips. This means the largest study abroad program, the vast resources, the numerous faculty, etc.

I applied in the fall with a 3.3 GPA and 30 ACT and was deferred. ECs included two years of marching band, one year of quizbowl, and one year of varsity tennis. I sent in my seventh semester grades (4.33) in early February, and was accepted yesterday.
