Who's is officially going to Howard???

Please leave information about your major and what state you are from!!! And why you chose Howard and anything else you want to leave!!

Starting with me... I am from Cincinnati, Ohio and I will be majoring in Political Science, but I also might do International Business later as a double major!! I chose Howard, because I loved DC, and becasue of the school's wonderful rep, and I think that it will bring me opportunites for internships considering that all the Fortune 500 businesses are there and of course the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! I am an aspriring politican, maybe future senator or beyond!!! I am looking forward to the HBCU experience, because I never really thought I would go to one, especially the bands!!!

I hail from Baltimore, Maryland and i will be a double major i am either majoring in Political Science and Legal Communications or Philosophy and Legal Communications with a minor in African-American studies. Actually Howard was the only HBCU that i was interested in attending, and i said what the heck, its a well known school, great credentials, well known staff, notable alumni plus i mean come on its Howard. umm i an aspiring attorney hopefully.

Hope to see you all in the fall or in pre-o in June

I'm a Political Science major from VA and I wanted to attend an HBCU. I got tired of being in a predominantly white school (I don't hate white people) and wanted to be around other intelligent driven black students. I'm used to being the only black person in most of my classes and it can be quite annoying/uncomfortable, especially during certain topic discussions. I'm really looking into working in the International Relations field and D.C. is a great place to start with the many embassies located there. It's too bad the UN is NYC though. The students at Howard seem very social and there also appear to be a lot of events throughout the year. Also HOMECOMING. I don't want college to be anything like high school; I want to become more involved and a lot more ambitious at attacking things that I want to pursue.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, live in Houston now, and will be living in D.C pretty soon. I'm a biology major and currently waiting to see if I'll get in Howard's bs/md program. I chose Howard because D.C. is wonderful, and the campus is great. Howard also offered me a load of cash. I got into other elite "white" colleges but decided that a free education in such a wonderful environment was worth much more.

I'm from Denver, CO but I've only lived in the state the last 4 1/2 years. I'm defintely going to Howard, I paid my enrollment fee...I'm majoring in Computer Informations and minoring in African American Studies. I've moved around alot and the most of the time have been in predomidentaly white schools. I want to be around individuals I can relate to ,those who also want to do something with their lives. My final decision was made between Howard and Hampton, when I visited and heard about all the oppurtunties I could have in the school of business. I can't wait to meet you all in the fall, I've heard alot about Howard and am ready for the experience at the MECCA AND DC!!

@rocky --> what h.s did u go to in N.O

Wow this is awesome to hear from other driven African American students! My high school has 52% black people, but my classes because they APs are filled with mostly causcians and asians! I love all races of people! Defiant Rose, I too only applied to one HBCU, but I think that Howard provides things that my predominately causian schools didn't, and not just because it is an HBCU! I suprised alot people, but oh well!

Did any of you all receive your financial aid packages yet?
I haven't made my final decision yet beacuse I'm still waiting to hear from HU. They need to hurry up... I only have 6 more days.

But, it's either Howard or Duke.

I do think it will be pretty interesting to see how everything turns out for me (& some of you). I mean the social scene is going to be so different from what I'm used to. Financial Aid? Nah, but I still turned in my enrollment fee anyway lol...I figured it can't be too bad.

Zag, i went to ben franklin high school in no. Tiger, I received my fin aid packet a week ago. I had already decided on hampton b/c i thought i wasn't gettin anything. But after the letter came in the mail, i made a decision. I think their fallin a little behind this year, I think they've been busy.

What kind of package did you get? I got a pretty good package form Howard too. but I got a large sum for Work Study. As a freshman, I dont think I can work that many hours to make as much money as they think.

Just curious, what kind of package did you get? So you are going to Howard?
What did you get from Hampton?

What's up with all these Political Science majors??

I haven't officially decided yet, but if I do decide to go to Howard, my major will be Architecture with a double minor (possibly) in Psychology and African-American studies.

Howard gave me the Founder's scholarship which is tuition, fees, room, and board, and a $500 book stipend. Hampton offered the same but included a computer also.

Political Science is one of the most popular majors at Howard. I won't be surprise if I switch majors though, but I still want to take the same career path.

Socrates lately I have been thinking the same thing and double majoring in International Business!!! I still hope to be a future congresswoman!

Congratulations for all the folks here on CC going to "the Mecca" this fall. I am a senior from a suburban high school in Connecticut. My school is very racially diverse but like many schools we have only a handful of black and Latino students in every grade taking honors and AP courses. I am excited about experiencing HBCU life and expanding my mind in the process. I plan on majoring in International Business and received the Legacy scholarship. I wanna definetly be a part of the mock trial team casue I participated all through high school. Can't wait to see you guys this August in DC !!

Chieftain06 yay for mock trial in MD we have all star attorney's i was allstar like three times. It would be great if we could go out for the mock trial team hope to see you there!

My school doesn't really offer a lot of extra curricular stuff (besides sports), so it's going to be really interesting figuring out kinds of clubs I want to be involved in when I get to Howard.

Also anyone with myspace should join the Howard University myspace group.

and you should add me as a friend myspace.com/zag500

Hey defiantRose that's so awesome that you were involved in mock trial! It was my life the last 4 years as I was my school's co-captain. Anyone here taking AP exams this week? I took AP French Language and Literature which weren't too bad considering I'm a native speaker. I still have Micro/Macroeconomics on Thursday and I feel like I'm borderline 3 & 4.
