Your observation has much support in research. Although left handed individuals are a small segment of the general population, they are disproportionately represented among the most talented members of the population in many fields of endeavor, including the arts, sciences, athletics and in leadership roles (for example, nine U.S. Presidents, including Obama, have been left-handed, a far greater percentage than is represented by left-handers in the overall population). Generally, the tendency of left-handers to excel is attributed to a superior ability to think intuitively, creatively and “outside of the box” as opposed to their right-handed competitors.

As a lefty, this thread has been a pleasure to read. It is important to note though, that in many areas of the world, there is still discrimination based on handedness. Given the tendency towards talent in lefties, I do wonder what we have lost based on dismissal of some smart, talented people.

That brilliance is tempered by our inclination to swerve into oncoming traffic.

I know I feel better already from a leisurely summer break, Neurosense.

I’ve been able to focus on my favorite artistic endeavors and do a lot more personal reading.
It’s been so refreshing, and I hope I’ll be able to keep up with this during the school year to balance things.

I’m left handed and I’ve made the same observation, other left handed people tend to be smarter, and I’m a genius myself, kidding! :D

I knew you’d come around.

My sister is left-handed. However, my parents think it’s a sin or something and keep telling her to use her right hand… =/

i’m left-handed, but only when writing (and when i played softball i bat lefty). i use my right hand for everything else (eating, using scissors, etc)

but yeah i like being a lefty =)
