Who's planning on attending NMH Fall 2010?

So, basically I got accepted to Northfield Mount Hermon, the Putney School, and St. Mark's School. But, I'm planning on choosing NMH out of the three (unless I get off the Wait List of Choate). So, who else out there is planning on attending NMH next year??

You’re probably not going to find anyone who will have confirmed attendence already…people are still looking at options they have for boarding school and apart from boarding school-- considering financial aid, the community, academics, sports, and what them and their families are comfortable with. Also many had NMH as backup(speaking honestly I do not know much about it myself) Therefore, I suggest, you contact different students in attendence there right now. Eventually, you can get in touch with thsoe who decide to attend there-hopefully within one or two weeks?

Josh- wow, those three schools cover the spectrum of pedagogies, at least in New England.
I know- I went to five widely( or is it wildly ?) different high schools myself, back in the Age of Legends :).

This is truly a case of REVISITS for you. You must choose not only where you feel most comfortable but where you believe you will be challenged the most.
All, of course, are excellent choices.

I would be going if I had any FA. :frowning: B/c right now, it’s my only option

Hey rad- did your family contact them to try and talk to them? Send them updates about achievements…etc.etc.

I was going to today but we had to get the perfect one from RI, so I’ll do it tomorrow. Plus, even though I stayed home I was sleeping all day :P

loomis is the same way for me. Only place I was accepted, but with no FA.

It’s a possibility for me, but I didn’t get FA.

I’m starting to wonder if NMH has any FA money.

My theory is that because of the economy a lot of current students who didn’t need as much FA all of the sudden needed money and they don’t like to kick out current students who can’t pay.

that’s my mom’s theory but add a few conspiracy theories here and there ;)

My parents are going to contact the school and try to set something up for me, but I’ll probably end up on the FA waitlist and then that will be the end of the road for me.

same here  are you re-applying next year? I am

I would have to apply as a senior or a repeat junior so probably not. I was accepted as a repeat sophomore this year.

why not? tons of kids do that.

I would rather do a gap year than repeat junior year. Junior year is hxc.

I’m sure NMH had fa available, it’s just that if you need a large amount, it becomes limited. Kids who have full fa are on named scholarships and there are a limited amount of those. It would behoove you to reapply next year.

Hi, Josh. I’m planning to go to NMH. That’s my best choice!
I’m really exciting about this new school experience.

oh my goodness! im TOTALY NERVOUS they say that 80% of the people who get into NMH get financial aid but now that im looking at this i am thinking other wise…i got into NMH also but i didnt get financial aid :frowning: ive been asking (BEGGING) all of my family members to help and i am trying to even get a job even though i am only 14. nothing seems like its working and we have to give them our answer in ONLY AFEW DAYS!!! id give up evvvrryyythiiing to go to this school and now that i see all of these people not getting financial aid it would just seem like a fail to ask them to put me on the waiting list for it. i dont want to give up but i dont know what to do!

Charlottexo - did you apply anywhere else?

My D is accepted for 10th grade, but also without FA ( we need full ). This is her second time, applied last year with same results.

Good luck.
