Whos ready for this hurricane

Been living in jersey 17 years and never experienced an earthquake or hurricane...both in the same week is pretty crazy..I live like 5 minutes from the coast and we havent been evacuated yet so this should be interesting...

A hurricane is def a good excuse not do this summer work, right? Hahaha

lol i planned on running a bit, but i guess i can’t because of the hurricane. By the way, I live in NY.

is Philly safe from the hurricane? Where’s the hurricane supposed to hit? just the coast?

and the earthquake was intense. I was reading a book in my bed and I felt the bed moving like it was floating on water lol.

I’ve lived through hurricanes before. I think you guys will be alright for the most part, Irene doesn’t look TOO tormenting, but I’m not sure if your houses are built to sustain the winds…if you have a generator, keep it close by. Chances are you’ll have some power outages. In some places where I live the power would be out for two weeks with Charlie, Jeanne, etc. Keep bottles of water and pantry food nearby, stock up on batteries, keep the bathtub full, etc.
(okay, i take some of that back, irene does kind of look bad haha)

The nice thing about hurricane weather is that it’s mostly just wind and rain, very little thunder and lightening, so that’s kind of a plus :b

My angus is prepared.

I am looking forward to it as well. It’s something new in NYC.

@korean No Philly isn’t completely safe. The size of this hurricane is massive(its as big as Katrina.) I live in the suburbs of Philly in NJ and we are all preparing.

sameee. we never get any hurricanes or earthquakes…let alone on the same week.

end of the world stuff right there O_o

Well it’s definitely not as big as Katrina, this is only category 2, but they’re saying it’s 500 miles wide so the impact area is gonna be huge

I think its gonna be a dud. Then again, I’m not in the crosshairs either

Eh, you’ll be alright. It’s only a category 2, right? And Most of the east coast is enough above sea level that it shouldn’t flood or anything, so you’re really looking at wind damage mostly. [i lived in new orleans until 2008 btw…seriously, you should be fine]

It’s apparently supposed to ramp back up to a Cat 3 or 4. Those always suck.

It wont ramp back up after it hits land. It’s prob going to be a cat 2 when it hits NC/VA, cat 1 when it gets to PA/NY/NJ/MA

Dude, I have summer work to finish. School starts on Tuesday. How long do you think Eastern PA will lose power?

Northern NC here. I’m guessing I’ll take it pretty hard, but I’ve lived through some tough ones (can’t remember the one that tore the shingles off my house when I was 2.) An earthquake and hurricane in the same week? I guess when the world end, I maybe one of the first to go.

My parents are frightened that it’s going to hit hard in NJ. I think it’ll be a dud too…

No hurricanes in Wisconsin. :D

I am. The mayor of NY is evacuating areas but not mine. I think he is making up for his earlier failure after the Christmas blizzard.

^^BINGO. Everyone is trying to prove how much of a leader they are before election time, especially after the blizzard when Bloomberg was symbloically MIA and Gov Christie ran away to Disney World with the fam (I’m not being political).

Chillin’ lol.

Pulling an all nighter so I can BS most of computer-related summer work just in case power goes out(in MD).
