Been living in jersey 17 years and never experienced an earthquake or hurricane...both in the same week is pretty crazy..I live like 5 minutes from the coast and we havent been evacuated yet so this should be interesting...

A hurricane is def a good excuse not do this summer work, right? Hahaha

I’ve lived through hurricanes before. I think you guys will be alright for the most part, Irene doesn’t look TOO tormenting, but I’m not sure if your houses are built to sustain the winds…if you have a generator, keep it close by. Chances are you’ll have some power outages. In some places where I live the power would be out for two weeks with Charlie, Jeanne, etc. Keep bottles of water and pantry food nearby, stock up on batteries, keep the bathtub full, etc.
(okay, i take some of that back, irene does kind of look bad haha)

The nice thing about hurricane weather is that it’s mostly just wind and rain, very little thunder and lightening, so that’s kind of a plus :b

@korean No Philly isn’t completely safe. The size of this hurricane is massive(its as big as Katrina.) I live in the suburbs of Philly in NJ and we are all preparing.

Eh, you’ll be alright. It’s only a category 2, right? And Most of the east coast is enough above sea level that it shouldn’t flood or anything, so you’re really looking at wind damage mostly. [i lived in new orleans until 2008 btw…seriously, you should be fine]

Northern NC here. I’m guessing I’ll take it pretty hard, but I’ve lived through some tough ones (can’t remember the one that tore the shingles off my house when I was 2.) An earthquake and hurricane in the same week? I guess when the world end, I maybe one of the first to go.

^^BINGO. Everyone is trying to prove how much of a leader they are before election time, especially after the blizzard when Bloomberg was symbloically MIA and Gov Christie ran away to Disney World with the fam (I’m not being political).
