Who's Ready for VANDY!?!?!?

I've never been more excited in my life! I've turn in my matriculation fee to one of my favorite schools in America, in one of my favorite cities in America and I am ready to go. I love Vandy! They are so giving. They gave me $41,000.00 a year in scholarships and financial aid...so now I can afford law school later in life. My only question is: Who's ready for Vanderbilt?!

SAT: 1450 (660M, 790V)

I agree about them being so giving. It was one of only a few schools where I didn't specifically apply for a scholarship and, ironically, it's the only one that gave me a decent one! I'm ready!

PS - we need more excitement on the Vandy board!

PPS - what's with posting the SAT score?

I'm glad you both found them so giving. It is the one school that gave my D no merit scholarship and of course it is her first pick.
SAT - 1510
ACT - 34
top 1% of class
tons of ECs

Trying to figure it out. Did you do early admission? Maybe that was the difference.

I excited to go too! I already ordered spirit sweat pants and hoodie.

Also no $$$$ and we don't qualify for any aid, not even the tax break....

Pandora 100 - my child has similar stats, is valedictorian, and went ED. We did not receive anything. We feel like ED worked against us! We really thought that some type of scholarship would be offered for all of the hard work and awards. Now we fell like we should have gone RD and at least found out what was out there!

Blue123,
Thanks for sharing. There truly is no figuring any of this out. Maybe they didn't like her essays or something. Although other schools seemed too. She is editor of the school newspaper, so she should be able to write.
Still under the gun trying to figure out which school. The old dilema of paying more money for her first pick or less for another and have her feel like she is settling.
It helps to hear of others in the same situation. Has your child made a decision yet?

Pandora100

We are Early Decision so it is a binding decision.

Sorry Blue123,
Forgot about the binding thing. D didn't apply to any school ED because of that. I guess it was a good decision on our part, but now we are going through the terrible decision part.
Thanks again.

I'M READY FOR VANDY!! wooohooooo

I didn't do early admission. My stats are [post=635370]here[/post] if you wanted to see them.

In response to the guy who ask me why I posted my SAT...the answer is I don't know. It seemed like what everyone was doing. It's very pretentious, and I don't like it. Oh well..to each, their own.

Sorry to hijack your post but how much is the tuition deposit for Vandy?

400 buckaroos

Sending you a private message.

D is on waiting list at Vanderbilt. Would love to get a spot. Meanwhile, she got nice merit aid from Rhodes. I think the schools are similar in student body type and academic priorities, if not size. She also got into Wake--didn't make the scholarship application deadline, so no aid there. Would welcome any advice since there are probably some overlaps in this board.

Vandy's aid package surpasses all the others I have gotten especially the one from Tufts where I would have racked up over 20k in debt in four years. At Vandy I am looking at around 10k but I will take care of most of that with scholarships so I will be attending Vandy this fall.

pandora100, blue123~
I'm in a similar position. Top 1% of a competitive school, 1520, ACT - 35, 780/800/800, ybk editor, various ECs, volunteering....and not a dime in scholarships.
Go figure :-</p>
