Who's Ready to Party??

we will, right after my parents leave, on August 19th, lol

wooo, i can't wait! you guys are getting me all riled up now...i want to party right THIS moment....at 5pm lol

lol, i fear Cornell will turn me into an alcoholic...

don't fear it, embrace your alcoholism ;)

It's cheaper than some habits that are out there... ;)

Cornell will turn you all into alcoholics. Just wait until you start taking prelims and failing them; last night was a typical prelim night: you go out, do badly on the test, then go back to the dorm and do tequila shots and weep profusely.

Orientation week is pretty cool. My best O-Week memory was myself and a couple of friends getting into this exclusive closed party at SAE because they thought we were juniors. Needless to say it was a lot of fun. Every year it gets more tame though, according to upperclassmen. The Dis-orientation Party mentioned earlier is an annual event held at a house in collegetown (Eddy Street i believe). If you go anywhere on campus you will most likely get flyers for it on the first night. However, I would advise laying low for the first 1 or 2 days just because they try to bust a few parties early on just to show that the IPD really does exist, even though they don't do jack for the rest of the year (this also goes for beer pong in the dorm rooms; the RA's will be on high alert and very anal about alcohol at the beginning of the year; this is when most people get JA'ed). Most of the orientation week parties are in collegetown, not so much at the frats for some reason. The end of O-Week, the weekend before classes start, the frats will pick up the slack. Be sure to hit up a few big open parties that weekend, for they will be some of the best of the year. It's a hell of a lot of fun; just try not to die or get arrested.

Oh and also, try to make friends with your orientation leader. Odds are that he/she will either be in a frat/sorority or will have plenty of friends who either have pledged or live in collegetown, and they will be able to give you the best dirt on what's going down. Some especially heroic OL's will even personally lead groups of eager new freshmen down to parties on nights during the week.

Dang, why don't they put this stuff in the viewbook?

What's a viewbook?

You know, it's like that big fat red book they send to you telling you about Cornell and showing pics and what not...lol...I think that's what it is called anyway

Oh oh that thing, right, i remember that.

collin, don't tell the newbies not to party the first 1 or 2 nights! you should definitely be going out every single night of orientation week. no matter what the ol's tell you, you should wander down to Collegetown and stop by Eddy St. and Linden, you'll find plenty parties. Also, if the cops come, all you have to do is drop your beer, or stand on private property and they can't touch you. during orientation last year i had a cop guide me off the road on to the sidewalk while i had a beer in my hand and he didn't say anything. i love ipd.

(this is ronan by the way, collin)

lol, I was going to anyways

Lol ok Ronan, fair enough. That's what I get.

perro or ronan: would you guys happen to know a freshman named Egan?

I dont, at least not by name. Ronan prolly does; he knows everyone.

I disagree, it's better to stay around and actually meet people doing orientation stuff. If you go out, you'll just end up getting wasted for the first time ever and then wonder how the hell you'll get back to your dorm. Amazingly, I'm still friends with alot of the people I met during orientation week. You have your entire first year to hit up the frat scene and get drunk.

Plus, the cops love to break up parties. We had a house party in the middle of the week and the stupid cops busted it before it even really got started.

"you'll just end up getting wasted for the first time ever"

It wouldn't be the first time ever - lol. Obviously, if you've never drank before orientation week isn't the greatest time to take so many shots you pass out. But if you already know your limits and plan to drink responsibly, why not see what Cornell has to offer in the way of parties? The only thing that would stop me is if the cops are everywhere. Getting caught the first week would not be my idea of a good time!

I'll help all the first time evers :p
I never thought cops really cared...they don't around here

When the cops come: Squalle!

I think it will be fun to get to know the cops right away, gotta establish a relationship, right? LOL
