Who's Sending Midyear Reports to Colleges That Don't Require Them

I know Cornell and Penn require them but a lot of other top colleges don't.
I'm contemplating sending them to places that don't require them.

One factor that's holding me down is an advice I got from a former admissions officer who told me that adding too much stuff to my application file, especially unrequired stuff, may lose the focus of my app.

Any thoughts? I've called some admissions office of colleges that don't require midyear report forms for transfers and they weren't overly enthusiastic about it ("OK send it in if you want, but we can't guarantee it will be added").

Don’t think it can hurt.

Ssl307,
I agree with Dupes - it can’t hurt. I know several students who have done it, especially if your current semester is very strong.
I think what your former admissions officer was talking about was the people who send 15 recommendations from every teacher they’ve ever had. One or two extra things is not going to hurt.
Best wishes!

Why would i send something they don’t need?
