<p>So I got this thing from them in the mail today. It's free to join, but is it a scam?</p>

<p>If you snoop around a bit, you'll find that they have collected a total of $3.1 million in "membership fees". Total scholarships awarded? $60,500.</p>

<p>I think they just send out those letters randomly to people with good grades anyway. The only scholarship in that nature I found legit was the United States Achievement Academy, since they actually gave me money.</p>

<p>...It's a scam. In order to be considered for the scholarships, you need to pay. It's like a lottery. Everyone and anyone gets it. It's not an honor.</p>

<p>My husband (43 years old) received a letter from them a couple of months ago!! They got something messed up big time! </p>

<p>I don't think it is a scam but it is a business that sells books with your information in it to make money.</p>

<p>Well, my definition of scam is something best not to get involved with. This isn't a total scam; they won't disappear with any money you send them, but it is run by a company that makes profits by selling books which serves as little more than memorabilia...</p>

<p>think of it this way... "who's who, ahh thanks for recognizing i'm smart, but i'm too good for you!!!"</p>

<p>My brother got a letter like that aout 5 months ago.... I don't thin he did anything with it.</p>

<p>I am not sure about the scholarships but in 04 i received a copy of the book with my name and achievements in it and my grades sucked in everything but College Chemistry</p>
