Does anyone know if the "Who's who among HS students" program hold any merit at all? Is it even worth mentioning in one's college app?

no. don't do it.

Well i got one of those so what does that say?

everybody gets it man.

you can fill it out... it only costs 39 cents (stamp) but don't buy a book or anything.

since i got it, it is really not worth anything

What about national honor roll or national society of high school scholars?
lol me being stupid, purchased a book my first year.
but I guess the chance at scholarships helps

If you put it on your application, you will only look like an idiot. It will do nothing at all to help you.

I filled out the National Honor Roll one (I think that was it - not too sure) for fun... I figured, just a stamp. Can't hurt. So yeah, if you're bored, wanna fill out a form, and don't mind wasting the stamp, fill it out. I can't see it hurting anything. I don't think I put it on any of my apps tho... but then, I sent most of my apps before I filled it out, so... yeah.

Money = Scam. <==== "simplified"

"If you put it on your application, you will only look like an idiot"
lol.

on the top of the form, they say that less than 5% of high school students are nominated to participate in the program. assumin thats not a lie, doenst the program hold SOME merit if such a low # of students are considered?

I was on Who's Who when I was a freshman in HS, but it doesn't really have merit because some people that usually made B's and C's also got on it. Just recently during the summer they sent me a letter asking if I wanted a Who's Who Among American HS Students CREDIT CARD. Wow, trying to business with a credit card offer.

well, i don't think it will HURT you to put it on. It's not gonna do a whole lot though. You might look a little naive, perhaps.
