What interesting person graduated from (or attended, but never graduated from) the bs you are planning or hoping to attend? And if they never graduated, please do tell us why . . . :D

Let's avoid the more obvious ones (Ford and Bush come to mind ;)) and focus on the more interesting/obscure/unexpected (or stated otherwise, less well known) alumni/ae connections.

(And, yes, this thread was inspired by the recent reference to Bette Davis in the Cushing Academy thread . . . Thank you, muf123!)

John F. Kennedy - 35th President
Jaime Lee Curtis - Actress
Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuk - Prince of Bhutan
Glenn Close - Actress
Ivanka Trump - Business Woman
Michael Douglas - Actor

I knew about JFK and Jamie Lee Curtis, but I had no idea that a prince and Ivanka Trump went to Choate too!

Stephen Sondheim (his first musical, By George, was performed at GS)
Julian Bond --head of NAACP for many years and a founder of SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee) which was found on Quaker principles
Mario Capecchi–2007 Nobel Laureate in Medicine
Kenneth Geddes Wilson-1982 Nobel Laureate in Physics
Barbara Dodd Anderson–philanthropist (and kindergarten teacher) whose single gift of 128.5 million to George school was the largest ever received by an existing independent school. She recently passed away, leaving the school an additional 30 million.

Any other schools with Nobel winners out there?

I’m not going to argue with anything you reply to this because I don’t want to steer this thread too off track, but just out of curiosity, why is he a massive tool in your opinion?

Zuckerberg = too much of this (tap head) and not enough of this (tap heart). I don’t see him as a guy who would think twice about ruining someone else to get what he wants. Is he really someone Exeter would hold up as a poster child for the school? For me, he’d be a reason not to choose the school.

I am guessing u watched the social network! However u should also know that it was Hollywood, and therefore it was exaggerated to be more ‘dramatic’. I really don’t think we are in a position to judge him though. Since I am guessing none of us know him personally. Sorry for being off topic…

PEA-
Jeff Ma (1990) – part of MIT blackjack team, basis of the film 21

@ccprep: That card team also included a female PEA (1987?) grad that Kate Bosworth’s character is based on. She was at Harvard at the time though, not MIT.

As a future exonian I would like to point out Exeter has produced very prominent members of society including mark zuckerberg. You call him a tool, interesting. He made a 20 million donation to nj public schools(yes public) and tried to do it anonymously. You say he has no heart but you are judging him through a fictional potrayal, I am quite sure any individual would sue and debate over a $20 billion franchise. Exeter if you have noticed never puts on an alum " as the face of their school" but if they do I would not mind putting mark zuckerberg because he actually commits to exeters motto of non sibi

Not 20 million, 100 million. Much more philanthropic. Also, he signed a pledge along with Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to donate at least half of their wealth to charity over time. That’s (as of now) 6.75 billion dollars.

But anyways, back to the thread topic, besides Zuckerberg, David Rockefeller Jr. and Jay Rockefeller would be my choices.

The world is full of horrible, wealthy human beings who donate money to make themselves look good. If you think Zuckerberg is a great guy, more power to you.

Warren Buffett is a different story, brilliant, wealthy, but not unsavory. Where did he go to high school?
