nobody else from Straus :(

where did you guys get you're PIN numbers? I think someone said it was mailed to them, but in which letter?

I'm in Greenough.

I applied online, so I got it through email....

I recieved that in a mail.

Where are you from: Rochester, NY (originally Manhattan if we're being literal)
What year are you in HS: Junior (now; will be a senior in the fall)
SAT score: 1950
GPA: (uw) (w): 93% unweighted
Courses taking: Microeconomics, Philosophy
Why you selected Harvard for SSP: It seemed sweet. Plus, there's a fifteen dollar bus to NYC so i can visit my pallies over the summer while still actually accomplishing something.

I know I shouldn't be suprised at these "getting to know you" questions considering the type of board this is, but I'm still slightly jilted that instead of asking what kind of music we like or movies we're into we wrote our SAT scores. So I'm going to add that regardless...

Music: The Postal Service, Arcade Fire, Hot Hot Heat, The Unicorns, Le Tigre, Deathcab for Cutie, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sublime, 80s trash-pop ( Mr. nJackson included of course), Dispatch, Modest Mouse, Iron and Wine, The Mars Volta, and pretty much everything ever.

Movies: Royal Tenenbaums, Amelie, Donnie Darko, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Igby Goes Down, Spun, Buffalo '66, The Godfather, Garden State, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind etc.

hey guys,
i did ssp last year..
and well just be looking forward to the best summer of your life.
it is amazing.

sounds like the dorms are set up very differently than last year, last year all sophs were housed directly on the old yard.

good luck guys!

maybe i can talk my parents into dulling out the 8 thous for me to go again this year... it hasn't worked so far but you never know...

if you have any questions don't hesitate to e-mail me...

anyone in wigglesworth who's not a sophomore?

OH and I'm in Pennypacker 25.

Has anyone taken:
EXPO S-20D Social & Ethnical Issues or
GOVT S-30 Intro to American Government.
If so, how was it?

I sat in on Writing about Social and Ethical Issue for a couple of classes last year. I didn't take the course although I was kind of recruited by the prof because I added so much to the dicussion we had during the two or three classes I did sit in, I was already too busy taking Legal Writing and Intro to International Relations to take it. For the time that I did sit in on the class it was really great! I had a friend in my dorm take it and she really enjoyed it, although the teacher that taught it last year was a pretty difficult grader. The teacher also had published many books about refugees and it seemed like a very interesting class to take.

Hahah, hilovepie, you seem awesome. One of the few that realizes there is life outside of schooling.

Music: The Postal Service, Le Tigre, Bright Eyes, The Appleseed cast, Mogwai, any piano jazz, The Faint, Cursive.

Books: The Giver, Stargirl, 1984, Brave New World, A Separate Peace, a whole load that I can't remember right now.

Movies: Garden State, Napoleon Dynamite, Princess Mononoke, 28 days later

omg i am so jealous of you guys. SSP was the best experience of my life. I made 6 of my best friends and even though we live in different parts of the country (lol and one in egypt) we still talk alot to each other. This will be the best summer in your lives. You better get ready!!!

Measureyourlifeinlove.
Hey, thanks for the heads up. BTW who was the prof that you liked and who was the one who was tough on grades?
I'm really looking forward to a great summer.

Where are you from: Chicago
What year are you in HS: Junior
SAT score: 2130 (690/710/730)
GPA: 3.84/4.0 uw
Courses taking: International Relations & Spanish...no friday or morning class... yes!
Why you selected Harvard for SSP: I originally applied several months ago because I really wanted to just get away from everything and everybody in Chicago this summer (do something different, rather than just like work at abercrombie like everyone else haha)...but the reason now has kind of morphed into the fact that the classes I'm taking are what I'm interested in and basically to just have a good time in Boston, meet a lot of new people...etc.

I'm in Matthews.

PS hilovepie I'm totally into a lot of the same music as you!

is ANYONE in pennypacker?!

and does anyone know how far away it is walking time from the science center area?

this is going to drool.

<3Mallory

Hey everybody,

I went to Harvard SSP last summer and it was the best summer of my life - so enjoy it. I was in Pennypacker, and took Writing and Literature and American Foreign Policy. If anybody has any questions, just message me!

if any of you guys have questions about ssp please feel free to IM me. i took microecon and the essay. but don't just limit ur questions to those classes b/c i had friends who took a variety of different classes like biology, comp sci, precalc, some more of the writing classes, etc. i lived in canaday, but i can also tell you about thayer (without being TOO biased =)). also, if you have any questions about going as a sophomore (rising junior), i can answer questions about that b/c i was one last year.

bumppppppp

smileforum... What essay course did you take and was it a lot of writing. Did you use any of evening help services, and how were they?

course change: I'm taking principles of genetics and intelectual property now
