<p>I'm just interested in why someone would go on to get a masters degree in environmental engineering. What are the benefits of having an advanced degree?</p>

<p>I can get a degree (MS or BS) in any of the traditional engineering fields, apart from civil, that would qualify within any specialty field. I do not feel that having a degree in the specialty engineering fields gives any real leg up in the field for which you will be applying for jobs in… apart from petroleum engineering.</p>
