Why a work-study job instead of a regular job?

<p>A few non-monetary things that my D really likes about her W/S study job that would not be true of private employment:</p>

<ol>
<li> Her employer (the college) is totally flexible about scheduling her hours around classes, finals and breaks.</li>
<li> When she’s not working on a specific task, she is free to study at work.</li>
<li> Her commute time is the 3 minutes it takes to walk from the dorm to the office.</li>
<li> The academic atmosphere and the relationships she can establish with the professors she works with.</li>
</ol>

<p>Another plus…for some. My DD has worked at the same W-S job for all four years…and therefore has actually been given some leadership responsibilities. AND she will get a nice letter of reference from her boss.</p>
