I am a guy and all the LAC I really want to go to all women colleges haha. Is it just me or all women's colleges really great and well rounded? Also, why aren't there more all men colleges?

that is your opinion , open to debate!

Well there are 60+ all women’s colleges. While some, like Barnard, Wellseley, Bryn Mawr, etc are fantastic, plenty of others are not.

I think part of the reason that there are vastly more women’s colleges than male ones has do with what those institutions represented during the hey day of the feminist revolution. The male college was seen as a way for men to perpetuate the good ole boy network and promote chauvinistic attitudes (at least according to a 1970s Time interview with a Hampden-Sydney student), while the female college seemed to be a place for women to grow as leaders and take on that network.

The men’s colleges (and many all women’s colleges) went co-ed years ago. Women’s colleges are good fits for some and others have no interest in being in that environment. They can be a great option for those who are interested.

whenhen your statement sounds like you spent to much time hanging out with basket weaving professors who live in lah lah land!

I was simply reading Time Magazine archives. In general, that was the justification for all women’s colleges. And yes, many all women’s schools went coed (Vassar) or closed entirely. But for those that remained, they justified their existence by stating that they gave women a chance to grow as people and leaders. Remember, up until very recently, men overwhelmingly dominated higher ed, and the business world. So women wanted access to those all male institutions not only to be able to simply go to a co-ed college, but also to get the same opportunities as their male counterparts.

Oh and if you’re curious Zobroward, here are some Time articles about single sex colleges from that period:

whenhen ,those reasons are excuses for staying in the Victorian Era! I do not care for single sex schools but, google wellesley and toxic waste and that should be enough to not want to go that school!
