I was just looking at my award history on my college's website, and I have scheduled $2,675 to be paid to me on May 21, 2010. That wasn't there the last time I checked (back in January). I'm not planning to attend school during the summer, though, and haven't registered any classes. This is only my second year, but for 2008-2009 I didn't get anything for Summer.

I suppose I only get the money if I attend classes during summer, right? Do you think it's necesary to ask FinAid office about this? This is weird.

You could send them an email as it sounds like it could be an error and it would be easier to undo before it posts to your account. No, you probably shouldn’t get the money if you haven’t registered for summer classes!

The school may have automatically updated all student accounts to include the summer portion of their Pell eligibility. If it didn’t happen last year, it’s because this is the first year for Year Round Pell & schools are handling posting it to accounts differently.

Obviously, if you don’t enroll, you don’t get it. That is always the case with aid offers.
