I currently live in Georgia and am half white half asian.
I will/have applied to the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Univeristy of Michigan, Purdue, Illinoise champaign Urbana, Virginia Tech.
I got deferred from both UGA and Michigan now… Should I get some safety schools? I thought my safety school was going to be UGA… I would love to go to Georgia Tech! Someone help me out whether or not I will get into any universities of my interest.
If it helps I want to go into Biomedical Engineering (maybe computer engineering) with a minor in business. Thanks!
Check for spelling errors before you apply to some safeties. (You have typos here)
You applied to schools that are impacted in your major. There are just too many students applying to those schools with similar stats.
I really don’t know. My experiences from early is telling me that numbers matter, but it’s not the only determining factor. I see you have solid base: good SAT score, fantastic ECs, and awesome GPA. I think it would be much helpful if you could also self-reflect and self-assess your essays.
I think you have a really good shot at Virginia Tech I am instate and have only heard good things about their engineering program!
UGA is only a safety for valedictorians/Salutatorians.
Yes you need 2 safeties you’ll like and can afford.
GATech is a reach. Odds are probably 20 (depending on how that 1400 is spread - M750-EBR650 is better than the reverse…)
UGA is a match, meaning odds are equal that you’d be rejected or admitted.
Same for Purdue and Virginia Tech.
What major did you apply for at UIUC? If CS, odds are highly unlikely; engineering, unlikely; something else, match.
What’s your parents’ budget? Can they afford their EFC or do they expect you to earn a merit scholarship?
Yes, you should always apply to safeties. Your major, your grades, and your test scores are all issues. Good luck.
Apply to safeties! I think your test scores, if anything, are dragging you down. It doesn’t help that you’re Asian either. You are still a very good candidate.
