Why am I having trouble with cookies and such?

Yesterday, when I tried to log onto CC, I got a long white screen with a lot of computing information. I had no trouble accessing the main site, but I could not get into the discussion forum. I assumed the site was down again. Later that evening I noticed my son was still getting e-mails from CC. I tried his computer and had no trouble getting onto the discussion forum.

I went back to my computer and deleted all my temporary cookies and temporary internet files and immediately got onto the discussion site. This morning when I tried again to get on the forum the same thing happened and I had to clean out things again.

Why is this happening and what should I do to stop it? I’m not having any other troubles with any other website. As far as I know, my spyware and virus programs are working fine. I am a computer novice to so please put any technical stuff into simple English. Thanks!

P.S. Now I can get into CC off of internet explorer, but when I tried to shift to AOL, it did the same thing???

It’s probably that AOL is delivering a “cached” page from early in the morning when some maintenance work was being done. We’ve had two or three reports of this, all from AOL users. Even hitting “refresh” doesn’t seem to clear the cache.

If it persists, contact AOL tech support. Maybe there’s a browser setting that can somehow force a “true” refresh.

**Sidenote to Cami–PM’d you a new post about son’s visit to Kalamazoo after 1st one was deleted in the system crash. With your computer problems, wasn’t sure if you received it…

AOL puts all their users behind giant caching proxies

Thanks everyone.

Once I clear out my temporary cookies, I can easily use internet explorer. However, if I then try to access the CC site through AOL, it messes up on both AOL and IE. I’ll call them next week to try and straighten things out.

So far, this is the only site I’m having troubles with so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that this is a localized problem.
