Why am I performing worse on practice exams?

I’m using the Princeton review 2016 edition. My last official composite score was a 25 (S:24 M:22 R:26 E:26) but in my practice exams I do in the book, I’m getting way lower scores. For example, my last reading practice subscore was a 22, and my last science was a 20. I’ve never taken a full practice exam all at once because I never have time, so usually I just sit down and do one section each separately. Why am I doing so bad on the practice ones but then do better on the actual test? I think it might be because I’m just not focused enough and I’m not paying enough attention as I should be, but it’s worrying me, considering that I need to improve each subscore as much as possible and my practice exams aren’t really helping. Any advice??

Are you reviewing material too-not just doing practice tests but reading about strategy and such?

I recommend using The Real ACT Prep Guide. Those test are exactly like the official test, while the Princeton review isn’t.

Princeton Review doesn’t publish official test materials, so their tests are often harder

Agree with the posters above. Don’t use 3rd party practice tests or questions.

I have the princeton review book as well, and I can say this: they are TERRIBLE. I scored a 23 the first time, and each test my score got lower and lower, even with their “review”. Their review is terrible. I’m not using princeton review anymore.
