Is it the self esteem that could be the issue?

Holding yourself back from lack of confidence.

"After 18 years of being ridiculed for my quiet introverted nature, I’ve come to accept it as my personality. I will never be a social butterfly. I will never be the life of the party. I will never be the most popular girl on campus. I will never have 300 friends on facebook. As long as I can articulate my thoughts in an effective and intelligent manner, I am okay. "

gives two thumbs up to this Me too.

I found this quote somewhere: Introverts are “a minority in the regular population but a majority in the gifted population.”

…Basically, introverts are awesome. :)

That said, I am working on my social skills. I will never like pop culture or keep up with things I find worthless, and I will never be able to keep conversations sparking all the time and with everyone. Especially small talk. Ugh. But I was too socially awkward my first years of high school. I am still somewhat shy, but I know I can speak intelligently when I need to. Maybe.

Hey, I found something from an article: "If you’re an introvert, it’s important to understand your natural reactions to stress and what you can do to restore your equilibrium. Retreats into self are neither neurotic nor mentally ill. They are a natural restorative to introverts. " Sorry, not sure what article… I collect random article bits about personality types, and sometimes forget to copy the URL.

By the way, I am impressed by the (well, in general) maturity of this forum. I thought it would be a bunch of people saying “Shy = stewpid, get a life!1!”

I guess there is probably something holding you back from talking. Being out on your own ( now or in the future), if not speaking ( or so being too quiet)… there can be many cons. I know many times people feel less, lower, or not better as etc… though none of that should keep you from talking/speaking… and that may be the reason.

I dont like people who talk alot…because they talk S.h..t usually. So it’s better not to talk alot then talk s.h..t all the time
