I am currently a sophomore and in Calc AB...my mom signed me up for the Math I subject test but I am wondering why I wouldn't just jump right to the level2. Will it hurt my application if a college sees two math scores, from both level 1 and 2?

If you haven’t taken the test yet, you can choose to take the Math II at the test time. Just do the II test in the book rather than Math I.

If you’re already in Calc AB, it definitely sounds like you should be taking Math II.

thanks…but I havent been studying for math II…would it hurt if I just took math I now, got a perfect score and then took II?

I don’t think it would hurt, but you probably still would be better off doing Math II. You should have plenty of time to study, Math II builds on Math I, so your studying would not have been in vain, and Math II has a better scoring curve. Not to mention that some places won’t accept a Math I.

As Nick said, it’s much harder to get an 800 (or any high score in general) on the Math I than on the Math II due to the curve. Since you’re already taking calc, you should already have the skills to tackle almost all of the problems in there, so definitely go for II. There isn’t much point taking both I & II.
