<p>Hi, I know there have been some questions about how long it takes to hear once the app is complete, but in my daughter's case I have a slightly different question. She emailed her app with essay 2 weeks ago and then her guidance dept sent in the transcript and letters of recc then next day by mail. The guidance dept told her they got a postcard back last week saying Pitt recieved her transcript,etc. BUT, on the web portal it still says they haven't received the transcripts.</p>
<p>Do we wait patiently or should my daughter email them to make sure they really have everything? Does it take awhile until it is all put together? It just seems strange that the portal isn't updated yet since guidance got a postcard in the mail last week.</p>
<p>^I’m also interested in any feedback about this since my daughter is in a similar predicament. She submitted her application early last week and received a confirmation of the application receipt from Pitt via snail mail. However, our school’s guidance office sent out her transcripts close to two weeks ago, and online application status check is still showing the transcripts as not having been received yet.</p>
<p>Last year, my daughter’s college counselor told her things (transcripts, recs) had been sent and it took perhaps two weeks before they arrived. We had the impression that the on-campus mail was a bit slow–perhaps just filing is (checked in and card receipt sent, then file and update online status?). We were never sure how honest the counselor was–she said that she sent more transcripts from my daughter’s freshman year at a different school than we had provided.</p>
<p>It takes a few days for them to merge the files (after they confirm receiving it)…happened to me as well but everything is okay now. So, I would say just wait, but if you’re really nervous about it call the OAFA at pitt.</p>
<p>I phoned them yesterday morning and they said they were backed up, so it may take a few days to process the transcript and update the web applet.</p>
<p>Transcript was sent on Oct 1 and they finally put it in yesterday afternoon.</p>
<p>When you received your Pitt Portal you should of got an email address for the Pitt representative in charge of your last name. Email your Rep and ask them…that’s what I did.</p>
<p>^D emailed her admissions rep. a few days ago, but hasn’t received any response. She tried phoning today, just to confirm if the transcripts have been received by now, or not, and was told by whoever she spoke with that they’re behind in their mail and that they couldn’t confirm to her if they received the transcripts yet, or not. She would just like to know, in case the transcripts need to be re-sent, but she’ll give it a few more days and hopefully her situation will be like EcoDarb’s and the transcript receipt will be reflected in her online portal.</p>
<p>D submitted her app online late September but counselor didn’t send her transcript out until a week later. That means they possibly received it by October 3. She was going to give it until the end of this week to contact the admissions office if the status didn’t change, but lo and behold; her application was showing “complete” yesterday! We’re also from out of state, if that makes any difference.</p>
<p>Arghh…my daughter’s is still incomplete and the guidance dept definitely sent in the transcript and got a postcard confirming that. It seems like they are catching up though so we will TRY to be patient!</p>
<p>saf, I can certainly understand your confusion & frustration. Hopefully, Pitt admissions are continuing to get caught up and your daughter’s transcript and application files will be merged within the next few days.</p>
<p>In the past, UPitt was pretty quick with decisions. My S applied and was accepted a couple of years ago ( decided to go to Emory Univ. but UPitt was up there in his top choices ). I recall that the time between all his material being received and his acceptance was about a week. My D just applied so I was curious as to whether UPitt is still issuing “quick” decisions or are things taking a bit longer now ? Thanks.</p>
<p>If it puts anyones mind at ease, my D’s transcript was sent electronically on Oct. 5. About a week later, we received a letter saying that they needed her transcripts to complete her application. Ironically, around the same time her guidance dept. received the postcard saying that her transcripts had arrived.
We decided to have guidance fax her transcripts (this was suggested in the letter we received). The day after that was done, her portal said “application complete”. Now whether that came about due to the fax or the actual official transcripts, I don’t know but it was about 12 days between the official transcripts being sent and the portal message. Good luck</p>
