Why are AP exams on May and not June?

Why are AP exams on May and not June? isn't it weird?

Well, seniors head off to college in..what..septemter? The grading does take a long time due to all the FRQ grading professors and teachers have to do.
It is weird, considereing that my last day of school is june 18th.

Because a lot of schools on the East Coast (and maybe elsewhere) get out of school in late May.

It sucks for schools on the West Coast, because we start school late (this year something like September 10) and end up having a lot of time after the AP tests...

Hmm, so why do west coast schools start later in the year?

Midwest schools I guess are a compromise between the two...we start at the middle/end of August, usually. Which leaves us with somewhere between 3 weeks and a month from the end of APs until the end of the school year.

I live on the east coast but school ends on June 26 or something like that. It is so stupid. We have so much time left after the APs. I wish we started school earlier.

we start during early august in Florida and get out in mid to late may. only 2-3 weeks left after exams :/.

We start about the second week of September and get out the first week of June. Nice and short (relatively at least)

Why do west coast schools end in june and start in Sep.? Its BS... Why cant we start in August and end in may so we dont waste a month after APs and actually learn the material a good time before the AP administration...

My AP teachers are giving a final exam of their own in addition to assigning a huge final project.

"Hmm, so why do west coast schools start later in the year?"

Good question...

Recently my school became an independent charter, and there was a move last year to start earlier in the year (meaning in August) so that less time would be lost for APs, finals would be before winter break, and we would get out of school shortly after the AP tests. Needless to say, there were too many problems (busing, the Spring musical, etc.) so it didn't get enough support. I still think it's ridiculous that we start so late, though. Now, even though I've had all my finals and we've covered everything we've needed to in every class, I have to do a bunch of projects -- nothing hard, really, it just feels like a waste of time.

Finals? After APs? That sucks. Our finals were practice AP tests. But we have projects too. We compose in Music theory, and we have a book report in Bio. Oh, we also analyze movies and their scientific correctness. We are watching Osmosis Jones now... that movie is gross

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS JUNE 3rd.
Booyah.
It was later but they changed it.
I can't wait till I'm a senior and get out like 2 weeks earlier.
We start mid-late August and have about 2-3 weeks after APs.
APs keep getting earlier. Last year the APUSH test was May 11th. This year May 6th. Next year May 5th. A couple of years ago I believe, all of the APs were given out like 2 weeks from now.

And this is my 1800th post. w00p

Indeed. Our seniors take finals 2 weeks early, so I have a few finals next week (and they're actually hard! >_<), then the rest of my finals are the last week of May. It sucks...because I'm a junior, my teachers won't exempt me from the finals even though I took the AP tests.

My school ends June 26th or 28th... around there. We have nearly a month after APs; pretty much all teachers assign some sort of project afterwards, and we all have finals.
