Not sure what point you’re trying to prove, interestingguy: that Duke’s student-athletes aren’t infallible (really?!) or that you really hate Duke.

Uh, what? Have you read interetingguy’s posts? That’s pretty much all he has said…

Right…

In regards to athletes, football and basketball athlete admissions have WAY more flexibility than all other sports. This is pretty common at most DI schools that give athletic scholarships. So what? Yeah, I’d agree that not every football and basketball player is an outstanding student…great. Very revolutionary. 10% of Duke students are varsity athletes. And, yeah, they’re not perfect either. Neither are the 90% non-athletes. And that’s the same at pretty much every school, whether it be Stanford, Harvard, Vanderbilt, Florida, Alabama, or wherever. This constant bashing for no particular reason just makes little sense…I guess interestingguy gets pleasure out of it so I’ll let him proceed.

^ I don’t give a hoot for interestingguy who is just trying to get your goat and has clearly gotten it. But it is refreshing to hear a Dukie admit that Duke’s athletic programs are just like everyone else’s and not the platonic embodiment of the ideal student-athlete.

Frankly I haven’t heard Duke commonly described in this way. If anything, I would expect someone to make the same lofty, unrealistic claim about Stanford.

^Lol, agreed. Duke kids are stereotypically just more proud of their school, their athletics… etcetc than other students. I rarely hear anyone here claim that we have the best athletic programs out of anyone.

Pride is sometimes mistaken for arrogance, unfortunately.

Well, they did send out a fancy brochure with some pretty cool pictures this year. just sayin

Here is an example of Dukie pride:

[What a highly sophisticated and logically rigorous analysis. You are clearly Yale Law School material.]

LMAO.
