Why are internationals studying at United World Colleges treated highly? Do they have greater chances/acceptances?. Does this mean other International students don't stand a chance? I'm really worried about this.

Good question. I want to know this too. I have seen quite a few people with very average stats get into great colleges. It seems they do have greater chances but it obviously does not mean other Internationals don’t stand a chance. They just have to work a little bit harder.

I thought as much!

damn, this is interesting! are you sure that they actually get accepted/ have a higher chance because they come from this school/schools?

Yea…I see guys studying at UWC’s get into the Ivies easily with low SAT and academics. I dunno why this happens so.

Because UWCs tend to be well regarded world-wide. They also seemh to have good relationships with a lot of american colleges.
6 incoming internationals at my college are from an UWC. 3 of them even went to the same UWC.

^
i think its coupled with the experience that they get, mixing with people of so many ethnicity…

It’s well-regarded, has a good academic reputation and they’re familiar with US college admissions, so would have better advising, relationships etc.

While there are scholarships, I think the high UWC fees means many don’t need aid, which also helps at the need-aware colleges.
