Why are out of state admissions so low?

Hi, I was wondering if there is a specific reason why OOS admissions are only around 9%. This school has very good stats and I would think there would be great interest at least from surrounding NE areas, particularly given the not so expensive OOS tuition. So my question is: will OOS applicant have the same chance as NYS resident or there is some sort of preference to in-state applicants.

No, preference is to OOS.

This is a SUNY and they try to maintain a large percentage of in state students.

It is a SUNY, so by default, most students there are from New York. But being OOS won’t hurt you. All colleges want students from all the states because it looks better on their stats.

I’m sure the SUNY’s welcome the OOS tuition also.

Oh, and another reason there aren’t a lot is because usually if a student has the oppotunity to go OOS, they go to a big state university or whatever. With a college town, football team, etc etc
