hah ...i've felt like that sometimes

More intelligent people tend to gravitate here. Why?

1: Generally, the more intelligent are more obsessed about getting into the best colleges.
2: People are encouraged to be thoughtful in forums. People who are thoughtful tend to be more intelligent.
3: THe students in the best high schools have guidance counsolers who know about this website
4: The more intelligent tend to navigate their way around the Internet more fluidly, and have more of a culture based on the Internet (.e.g, look at ratemyteachers.com. Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology is amongst the top; so are Stuyvesant, Bronx, and other top magnet schools).

Idk...we just are :)

CC is a very small fraction of what the applicant pool looks like in all years. Frankly, we are overachievers. Nothing wrong with it. :)

haha, I've noticed that too...if CC were an actual statistical representation of all HS juniors/seniors, then all of us who are applying to top schools would be in a load of trouble...it'd basically be a lottery...

Kebree, it may be closer to a lottery than you think... :)

We do have a non-representative sample here - lots of students pick colleges early at which they know they'll be accepted. These students don't think much about the admissions process, and aren't likely to hang out here. Students who are applying to colleges with insanely low acceptance rates quite naturally spend more time thinking and talking about the process.

Of course we also get a broad sampling of students trying to find good college fits, even if they aren't academic superstars. We have huge discussions of topics like musical theater schools, dance schools, etc.
