omg the only thing i HATE about my current school is that professors dont give a *****. i am SO sick of runnign after them for things! i mean, they don't reply to emails. they're never there during office hours and do NOTHING to help!!

my profesor told me she cannot check my essay draft cause she doesnt want to come to school during her office hours and advised me to go to someone else for help. ***!! she's the professorrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

also keep in mind that your professors are not responsible for checking over your essays. If they do that, it’s strictly as a personal favor to you. Be glad she told you to find someone else, instead of agreeing to look over your essay, and just brushing it off to the side.

+1 on the office hours bit. If they aren’t there during their office hours, that is a much larger issue though.

I can’t believe you have to put up with that. :X && that she would flatly tell you that. Ughh. Thankfully I’ve never had a professor such as that…knock on wood I also think you should raise that up to someone’s attention, I’ve never come across that!

Best of luck, only a couple more weeks left!!!

oogi, if the job of the professor is to hand over me the paper and say write… then thats a useless job. if i need assistance in forming my skills better, then thats what my professor is there for. if they cant do that, then i believe thats the wrong job for them

I’m not saying she isn’t being a ******, but her job is to teach whatever class you are enrolled in. The cool professors usually are approachable enough to ask outside of class related questions. Having them proof read your college application essay is in no way related to their course, and thus they have no responsibility toward proof reading.

That said, I have gone on ratemyprofessor.com and I always try and sign up for classes that are taught by professors that are not necessarily easy, but for professors that CLEARLY want to be there teaching. If your professor isn’t even there during her office hours, then there is no doubt that is not the kind of educator that you would want.

The idea that you should expect your college professor to help you with something outside of the realm of the course that that professor is teaching, is far fetched.
