Schools like UT Austin, Purdue and Northwestern aren’t as high up as Lehigh and WPI. I was curious to whether theres a reason for this?
Lehigh has a large engineering program for the size of the school. It is about 30% of students. If the salaries are for the school as a whole that could impact it. Lehigh is also only a little over and hour from NYC and Philly so many students may take jobs in high cost areas that pay a bit more.
Engineering grads don’t usually have very different salaries based on the school they attended, so I doubt that is the primary reason.
The average salary of Northwestern fresh engineering grads was slightly above $70k last year yet it’s not on the list. I don’t think the list is all that accurate.
@razon12 WPI is a top regionally known and respected school. Graduates would probably work in Boston, thus great pay. Those rankings don’t reflect the quality of education.
So would it be safe to say the greater the level of education is “higher” the pay, if the living cost was deconsidered?
Grads from ABET accredited engineering programs in the same major usually get fairly similar pay for engineering jobs, except for Computer Science. It think that would be true at the schools you listed, which are all very good schools.
