Why are there always more girls than guys at college?

Its not a bad thing, just curious

Afermative Acztionz, and GuRlZ duz bedder in SkOOlZ.

AhsulZ, der es mor womenz than menz in de jehneral popuhlationZ.

girls have nicer handwriting

Girls are smarter.

I once read somewhere and I quote, “Girls go to college to get more knowledge; boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider.”

When did you lose you testicles, Steven

no one wants a sausage fest

On October the 15th, 2004. Thank you for asking.

Because they study for tests and do their homework. Yes, it’s that simple.

“AhsulZ, der es mor womenz than menz in de jehneral popuhlationZ”

Actually, no, there are more men in the general population.

About 4 million more females in the USA.

sum guyz gottta go out dere and feed our poppas, mommas, grand daddies, and sistas goin to deh college. sum guyz aint gott no choice but be like thugz and fightas to keep teh cash flowin in. sum guyz got caught up in teh gangs and anotha worlda drugs and start seeing theives takin their monayyyy

and no. girls tend to be more focused/obedient, not smarter.

girls are dumb. throw rocks at them.

Actually, there are more men being born but there are also more men being killed off as they get older so they are fewer overall.

People have an odd habit of thinking that those are the same. A computer is the smartest being on earth since it is 100% focused and obedient!

51% of the world is Female.

Also, you have to be specific. If you’re talking about a technical or engineering school. I laugh at those conclusions :D

51% of the population is female, but in colleges it’s a lot more!
57% of college students are females [USATODAY.com - College gender gap widens: 57% are women](http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2005-10-19-male-college-cover_x.htm)

Why? More women graduate HS and choose to go on to college. Men have a higher HS drop out rate.
Plus men tend to die off younger. Why? Violence and Accidents. Silly men :p

We’re still minorities in Engineering/Tech programs, since those don’t offer Literature or Psychology as majors  [The Bi-College News Online Blog Archive HC Women and Their Majors](http://www.biconews.com/?p=6315)

I’m one the few women in engineering. XD

I would never major in literature and I just don’t give a damn enough about people to major in psychology. There’s not enough money to pay me to listen to people like Lakrosse, PMVD and InnovativeBoxx all day.

^ LOL

Good for you, Platts. Not that there’s anything wrong with Lib Arts majors, but it’s too bad we’re still a minority in some fields.

I’m studying Neuroscience, which studies the nervous system, which is kind of close to Psych, right? Except we need to do a lot more Physics, Chem, Bio and Calc than Psych majors lol. My college is over 60% female so a decent amount of girls in my classes which is always nice to see. A lot of us are pre-med which is also nice since since we’re still a minority in the Med field.

Not everywhere. My school is 5:1 guys to girls.
Its pretty noticeable in class, but at parties it evens out because a lot of the guys stay in their rooms and play video games all night.

Base of reading thread title… I also notice this with many universities, and ask the same question. Some the ratio is even larger, like 65% female, 35% males. Since most statistics I see are universities with larger female ratio, is this ratio also seen in community colleges?
