<p>I would maintain that Alexandre’s takes on campuses are the best-informed and most insightful that I know. The reason is that they come from a practice that I have never known anyone else to do.</p>
<p>I once PM’d Alexandre to ask how he knew so many details about so many campuses. He told me that for a number of years after college he was fascinated by universities and campus life, and for vacations he’d visit a school that intrigued him, spend two or three weeks there, and go native. He’d drop in on classes, attend events, eat and go out where the students did, and absorb as much of the experience as one could in that amount of time. Few of us who offer opinions about various colleges have that kind of in-depth, first-person perspective.</p>
<p>That said, I’m pretty certain he has at least one degree from Michigan and would probably embrace the label of “proud old Blue.” ;)</p>
