Why are University of Michigan students/fans/boosters so arrogant?

The masses on CC seem to knee-jerk react with:
top private school ==> outstanding
top public school ==> not so good

</p>

<p>That is also true for USNews. Having highly ranked publics is not good for magazine sales, so they changed the criteria which, with the exception of PA, all favor private colleges.</p>
