to party and ********…but actually learn stuff, mature as a person, be able to have a real job one day

job, interest in learning, experiencing college life, avoiding the social stigma people who don’t go to college face, etc.

yeah i have seen it. reverse natural selection is kinda sad really

Didn’t quite feel prepared for the world straight out of high school. College is part of that preparation: detailed study of a specific field of interest, time to build more social skills, etc.

SUre, I could have survived by being in front of a cash register (or even building websites) for the rest of my life, but that’s no fun. :)

Yes. I would not bother with this nonsense if a substantial monetary reward was not involved. It is an investment like any other, so its return better be satisfactory, or at least outperform my portfolio.

To sprout forth from my fertile loins

I actually genuinely enjoy learning so I want to go to college to take classes about subjects that I love. I also would like the opportunity to go abroad and I feel like if I don’t do it in college I never will

To learn. And to meet great people, do awesome things, and do something amazing with my life.

I want to broaden my horizons and get a better understanding of the world, by talking to people from all walks of life. Also, I want to learn more (a significant thing for me is that I want to master spanish and french) so I can have a real job and understand other cultures better. In conclusion, I want to be an extremely intellectual and cultured person when I grow up.

Because I don’t know what else I would do/what I’m supposed to do.

I couldn’t make it to the NBA, so I need a real job.

lol :)

The indulgent, economically-unwise reason? Because I’m an academic–I love reading academic articles, having discussions and debates, etc. The more practical reason? Because the major publishing houses don’t accept people without college degrees, and usually don’t accept people without somewhat “prestigious” college degrees.

Because I genuinely want to learn more.

None of my majors are particularly lucrative lol and I was well on my way to becoming a master plumber where I could have made much more money.

to meet intelligent people
to get away from the south
to have fun with said intelligent people while not in the south

To learn more and expand my options for life.

It’s working so far. I can apply to programs I want to do, and have wanted to do, but couldn’t do without a BA.

And I’m learning more, and loving it too, of course.

to cultivate that impossibly cool aura of ironic detachment which marks the college student

of course this veneer hides the seemingly incompatible neuroses of unjustified egotism and crippling insecurity, those other marks of the college student

no worries though - to me it’s all about the surface

I’d like my diploma please.

I genuinely want to learn more

Parents expect me to
Make more money and secure a job for the future
Broaden horizons and experience more.

Basically, I’m going to college so I can open more doors for the future

Coz i love learning new stuff everyday.
More knowledge on my field.
And the more i learn the better for when i get to RUN THE WORLD :D
