I know PSU has great engineering, business and meterology programs. For everyone else, why are you selecting PSU over your other choices? Is it the big school atmosphere and choices, network of alumni, or did you love the campus??? What made you decide on PSU?

My kid is trying to decide between PSU, Pitt, Ohio U, and SUNY Buffalo. A few other choices (OSU, Duquesne, UCONN) have already dropped off the list of finalists for various reasons. PSU and Pitt are the most expensive and highest ranked, but Ohio U and SUNY would be almost $10K less a year. My kid is looking at bioscience majors.

Neon: My freshman son is in Eberly Science at PSU UP. He chose PSU because he has a full ride, wanted a large research university with lots of options in research areas and because he plans on going to grad school. He was able to enter with many credits for AP and therefor has most of the general education classes out of the way. This allows him to take more of the classes he is interested in. Although he had perfect math scores on all tests(SAT,II,AP CAlcbc) he retook calc 2 (H) learned a ton of new stuff and thought his teacher was amazing. High praise for a math kid. Shows the academics can be very strong. The size and scope of the Univ. is big enough that he won't outgrow it by senior year. Big 10 sports are great for campus unity. The campus is beautiful and allows him fresh air and room to run unlike being in an urban area. So far he is thrilled to be there. He says the food is great, the gym is a minute away and fun is as close as the guys next door. He has some HS friends there and that allowed him to ease into new relationships while having old friends around. So far so good.
