Okay so… I’ve applied RD to Bowdoin and I absolutely CANNOT wait to find out whether or not I’ve been accepted. Arghh. A month is sooo long!

Anyways, for all of you Eders out there (and fellow RDers), I was just wondering: what about Bowdoin made you want to apply there?

Although I think Bowdoin’s an amazing place, I’ve been having some doubts about the small class size (around 470ish?) and the location…torn between city life and rural tranquility. Also, the high school that I attend is fairly small, about 1100, and I was thinking that I might want something larger…?

So yeah. I think that I’ve just been waiting so long that I’ve started creating reasons not to like Bowdoin in case I don’t end up getting in. Just to hear some outside perspectives, please shout out your love for Bowdoin : ) What do you think?

I applied RD (which in hindsight was really dumb because now I can't wait!). My family is all from Maine and my uncle went to Bowdoin. My mom grew up on the same street as Bowdoin, with a lot of upperclassmen renting houses in the same neighborhood. I loved hearing stories about how the football team would play catch with the neighborhood kids or the male student living next door to an elderly woman would do her grocery shopping for her. Once I got older and realized what a great school it was, as well as an excellent environment to be in, I wanted to apply. When I visited campus it reaffirmed everything my mom had been telling me: everyone was unbelievably nice and welcoming. And of course Bowdoin's academics are superb. I didn't apply ED because of financial reasons (EFC was high and Bowdoin has no scholarships and if it did I wouldn't get one) but it's my number one school.

Ok, enough cheese. Anyone else?
