At the end of the current semester, I will be a rising senior at my university. When I graduate in May of 2014, I will have done so in only 3 years (vs. 4) due to AP credits and heavier courseloads. I am a finance major (Bachelor of Science) with a 3.97 GPA. Since around the beginning of February, I have applied to several internships with both financial companies and "normal" companies, but haven't even been offered an interview.

We appreciate all the detail. Congrats on all your success and motivation, you seemed lined up to have a great career.

My biggest guess as to why you haven’t gotten an internship is that good internships are hard to get.

I give this same advice to everyone, but here’s what you need to do: get a great profile on LinkedIn, and connect with recruiters and employees at companies (preferably in your region) that interest you. Connect with hundreds of people, explain that you’re looking for an internship, and see what they can do. You might only get an unpaid internship, but that would still be a vital asset to have on your resume.

I’d also contact all of your parents’ friends, and all of the parents of your friends.

Lots of companies, especially smaller companies, don’t have “internship programs”, but if they like or know the actual person, they’d be willing to make them an intern for the summer.

While you are highly qualified, the one question I have is: Where do you go to school? As mentioned in many of these forums, the Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanleys, JP Morgans, (top tier banks) almost exclusively pull from Ivy League schools, where students with similar credentials to yours are receiving interviews & offers.
