I am an active member of National Honor Society. I have a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale and I got a 1640 on my SATs ( not the best but not the worst either). Why did I not get accepted? I take AP classes and I am involved in numerous activities, clubs and sports. My friend got in and she isn't in half of the things I am. She also has a 3.5 but she got a 1580 on her SATs. Why did she get accepted and not me? I recently appealed the deny decision, what are my chances of getting accepted a second time around? I sent in a recommendation letter this time also.

You got denied because there are thousands of people who apply to Purdue every year that have similar stats to you. Schools aren’t only interested in grades and scores; they want to know how you stand out from the rest, and how you will make their campus a better place.

Appealing is a great decision if you’d like a higher chance of acceptance. It shows that being accepted to Purdue is important to you.

If you get denied again, don’t let it get to you. Change up a few things; drop the status quo. Did you have to write an essay? For some schools, essay content can be the difference between being accepted or not being accepted.

I had to write an essay only for the first application, I thought it was a good essay. For appealing it, I did not have to write anything. What do you think my chances are?
